Diet & Drinking Pop (Soda)

I think she is more talking about sodas and other beverages that have no nutritional content (kool aid, sweet tea).
 
here is my 2 cents on soda when you are trying to lose weight.

1)re: weightloss programs if you try something that is overly restrictive (i.e. cutting out something you love completely) it is less likely that you will stick to the program. so if you NEED soda, cut back but by all means dont cut it out completely. I cant live without coffee. so while I still have my one cup in the morning, I now drink it black. I had hit a weightloss plateau last year and after dropping cream and sugar I almost immediately lost 5 lbs. seriously. but no way I am giving up that coffee comepltely!

2) soda is empty calories. it tastes great but does not benefit you at all in any way shape or form (other than making you feel good when you drink it). when I went on my big weightloss kick I cut out soda comepltely but I was never a huge drinker to begin with. try cutting back. getting it in those little bitty cans or allowing only small protions at a time. and whatever you do dont supersize! LOL

3) calories are not the only issue with soda--next time you have a can of diet coke--check out the SODIUM content. I was shocked. it will make you retain water like you dont believe. empty calories plus lots of sodium and you are sabatoging your weightloss efforts unless you are really watching elsewhere.

so my personal advice (note--I am currently into year two of maintaining a 25lb loss) if you really NEED it--drink in moderation. but if you can--find yourself a healthier substitute! these days I ahve a diet coke on only a rare occassion as a special treat and I find I rarely miss it.
