Diesel is killing us!

Same here, we were planning a cross country trip this summer (Maine-California) that has been scratched for just an east coast trip. My DH says he will see those big trees someday!

Back to the original point of the thread....

Let's all put this into perspective. If you're going for a long weekend, I guess this would make sense to cancel a trip. But not too many of us do the three day Fort trip from Garner or anywhere else much outside of Fla..

We've been to the Fort twice: once in 2006 and once in 2008. Both times took about $450 in fuel round trip. Fuel was an estimated $2.50 to $3.00/gallon for diesel. Now its just over $4.00 and lets just say $4.50 when you head to the Fort. That means I'll have to pay (estimated off my previous trips) approximately $700-$800 in fuel.

Wow that seems like a lot. BUT, I have several months to save up for the extra expense. Not doing a Hoop-de-Doo revue or a couple of table service meals covers that as well.

Do what you feel is right. But remember, its not an extra $800. If it were me, it would be an extra $350. I was already going to have to pay the $450 anyway. ;)

Hi Neighbor! We're from Garner too! We'll hopefully be at the Fort with our Fifth Wheel Dec. 3. See you there?

I'm in the same boat as you are. We are planning a trip to Disneyland in January and am really concerned about the gas situation. Driving coast-to-coast and back again is really going to be expensive.:scared1: We had a trip planned to FW in October and I think we have already decided to cancel that trip and just put all of the gas $$ into the January trip.

. . . I have a feeling the prices will correct themselves by October anyway.

I so hope that you are right on this.

When I booked my trip last year gas was around 3$ I budgeted for 4.

Disney is just under 1000 miles, so I planned for 1000.

I get 8-10 miles a gal, so I figured for 8

1000/8 = 125 gal req to get to disney, and now home= 250gal

250 gal X 4$= 1000 SMACKERS:scared1: IF I have to pay 4.50 thats an extra 125 bones...........Im not going to sweat 125 bucks for this trip. No I wont like it, but Im not going to cancel.

Same math I did and same conclusion. When I add up the total budget for this trip (WDW package, food, fuel, souveniers) It comes in around $3500. Adding in $200 extra for fuel is nothing.

Like I said before, if I can't swing an extra $200, perhaps I should reconsider the whole $3500.

I only have 1 kid and didn't do the DDP. We eat nearly every breakfast at the camper and some of the dinners.

I knew having kids was expensive. Now I know why I only bought 1. :lmao:
