Die Cut layering 101- The basics

I'm sitting in the front row of your classroom all ready to go.

I have sizzixes and I'm ready to learn some new tricks. How about anything for Valentine's Day since it's coming up?

Well I don't have any Valentine's die cuts so if someone is willing to send me some I can try to put them together. HMM I should see if I can find any. Oh I couldn't find any scrap smilies but I did find this one.

I have the yellow Sizzix rose die and have tried many times to layer it. I'm having trouble getting it cut properly. If I send you a few, would you try them? Just to see if it's possible to do it?

ETA: Oh - and I forgot to tell you how much I appreciated this class! I'm looking forward to titles & shakerboxes!

Sure send away. Cut a bunch though incase I mess up.

Re:titles: I see posts from newbies now and then asking how to use the computer to make titles. I don't know if you are handy with the exacto knife or if you have your own great way to make hand cut titles, but it seems like a good subject to explore.

Can't wait for the shaker boxes! I used to do them all the time and have sort of forgotten about them lately. I can't wait to pick up a new trick!

I'm going to have to think about that one. We would need some teaching assistants that have the different tools, ie Wishblade, Cricut, etc. I cut some out be hand, use vellum, just print etc. However all of those papers are different so they would need to know the different settings. Good question Steph you get an A for effort!

Those are so neat. I wonder why I never did those with my sizzix? Oh right, b/c I never used it! I surely would have if I had know how to do that.

I've been checking in this evening.. but 5th grade homework has taken over my table and my life.. I will be in the classroom working diligently on my first attempt of layering by 8am. I'll check the rest of the thread but I have to leave about 8:30am to get groceries otherwise we will be starving for the next 2 weeks... I'll be back home by 10:30am.. and will be here for our discussion the rest of the day!

But to make it up to me you can certainly supply the hearts. Shall we meet in our usual dark alley? Or can I come over and play with the Cricut? You know I'm still on the fence about that one. Think they'll give a teachers discount??

Send them if you would like, I'm sure I can figure then out, just remember to send return postage or they are my hostages until my kids graduate.

DH is going out of town so Sunday is a wash. Maybe next weekend? I have a tax appt Sat at 9 but I'm free for the rest of the weekend.
