Hello Class my name is Miss Bianca and welcome to Die Cut layering 101. This is and introductory course to using your sizzix dies to get a 3-D effect.
So if everyone will get out their altered notebooks and acid-free pens we will begin.

I will be providing step by step instruction on 2 projects today, the green pumpkin die cut and the red parchment die cut. There will be photos along with the text. Please make sure you take notes, there will be a quiz at the end of the session.

Pumpkin
Step 1
Cut out 2 whole pumpkins in the desired color or colors. Today we are just using 1 shade of orange. Also cut out 1 stem from a shade of brown. (you can cut out an entire pumpkin if you would like but I find that this is a waste of paper)

Step 2
Trim perforations around 1 pumpkin and the brown stem. Discard the 1/2 moon outer shapes and stem from the 1 pumpkin and the left overs from your brown stem. Or save them for later use in our upcoming class, Serendipity Squares.

Step 3
Apply adhesive to the trimmed pieces. I ran mine through the xyron machine. How ever a glue stick or wet adhesive will do.

Step 4 Adhere layers over the remaining whole pumpkin, lining up the edges of your cut layer with the perforations of the bottom layer.

Now, moving on to the parchment.
Parchment

Step 1
Cut 1 parchment and one perforated corner, again to save paper. No need to to cut out 2 whole parchments.

Step 2
Trim around perforations of the corner piece and discard any left overs.

Step 3
If you are going to distress or ink the edges of the parchment do so now, if not skip to Step 4. Note: Please notice that only 2 sides of the corner piece have been inked as well as not inking the folded corner on the large piece of parchment. You will notice after being put together it will have a rolled effect and this one side will not need inking. Also, cats eye inks work well for this project by getting into the tears in the parchment.

Step 4
Apply adhesive to the corner piece. And apply to map corner along the perforations. Decorate as needed.

1 thing I would suggest doing is if you are planning on printing anything on the parchment I would print on it before you add the second layer.

Theses are your lessons for today. Does anyone have any questions?

OK, now I need sissix as well as xyron! When am I going to have any money left over for shoes?:rolleyes1

Very good class, Miss Bianca. Thank you.:)

Thanks for doing this class! I always just plopped down a pumpkin and colored the stem brown, now it will look so much better!:thumbsup2

thank you, thank you, thank you miss bianca! i can't wait to give it a try!

you are a great teacher. i love the step by step with pictures thing!

what will you be teaching us next????!!!!!

very cool. I like the whole picture thing. much easier to follow. :) maggie

I knew you would be able to show what I was trying to tell. Thank you so much for the lesson!! :teacher:

So what do we need to learn next? Oh I know I saw a really cool way to do shaker boxes, that could be tonight's lesson!

Great lesson, I really liked the step by step instructions with pictures. I know a lot of people ask about titles: maybe a lesson on them?

Thanks for the tutorial. I'm going to have to play around with mine when I get home. Hmm I don't own either of these dies so I may have to go shopping. :goodvibes

Miss Bianca, Miss Bianca,

I'm sitting in the front row of your classroom all ready to go.

Me, Me, Me (waving hand in tha air!):yay:

I have sizzixes and I'm ready to learn some new tricks. How about anything for Valentine's Day since it's coming up?

(is there no smiley for scrapbooking?)

Me next! ;)

I have the yellow Sizzix rose die and have tried many times to layer it. I'm having trouble getting it cut properly. If I send you a few, would you try them? Just to see if it's possible to do it? ;)

ETA: Oh - and I forgot to tell you how much I appreciated this class! :teeth: I'm looking forward to titles & shakerboxes! :teeth:

Re:titles: I see posts from newbies now and then asking how to use the computer to make titles. I don't know if you are handy with the exacto knife or if you have your own great way to make hand cut titles, but it seems like a good subject to explore.

Can't wait for the shaker boxes! I used to do them all the time and have sort of forgotten about them lately. I can't wait to pick up a new trick!

I so need a lesson in shaker boxes. Mine come out horrible. Cant wait
