I am trying to borrow four measly points for the room I have bene stalking for weeks. I cancelled two other bookings on another device, still not showing enough points.

Wait time is FORTY SEVEN MINUTES HOORAY!!!!

So what did this update fix exactly?

I have only resale contracts and have been able to borrow once successfully online and once on the phone for four hours (edit and failed once on the phone for 1.5 hours). Yay for Disney service!

Fun update! So this is how resale borrowing goes now. The checkout screen now times out after 15 minutes and makes you refresh and then it releases your room with no choice after 60 minutes. So after over 90 minutes on the phone, I didn’t get the room.30D71407-B308-4AFB-BE33-5A7FBE5D8294.png So magical!

People have reported that I wasn’t actually an update like many of us thought, but simply a switch to a new platform.

So, so frustrating that they have not figured it out, or at least given a better explanation on why it can’t be fixed with the borrowing restriction in place for some owners.

RoseGold, what resort are you trying to borrow from? I thought it was just Riviera resale that was problematic (or at least that is what they told me when I had to call.)

Maybe this is something that has been discussed, but I haven't seen it anywhere. I'm thinking next time I need to book using borrowed points, that I'll call MS a few days prior and book a reservation that is the exact amount of points as my desired trip. Then I go into my online account and cancel it, leaving the borrowed points in my current use year and ready to use for booking on my actual booking day. Is this something people have done to work around this ridiculous issue the online booking tool has with us peasant resale owners?

I think we need to petition member services to fix this issue immediately. And if that doesn’t work, we should definitely explore legal options. This is the worst experience I’ve ever dealt with in customer service. The CMs are wonderful whenever you can get ahold of them. But outside of that, it’s horrible.

That should work. I think I completely confused MS when I called asking to purchase OTU points and borrow points for a new reservation when I had ~30 points available in my current UY. It's annoying, because even MS couldn't borrow the points without calling someone else.

I don’t have any RIV points.

I was trying to borrow a few resale VGF points. I know, a crazy special request. I’m so demanding.

Agreed! It's so frustrating when you own at AKV and you are trying to book a value studio and can't because you need to borrow points...and your resale contract was purchased in 2008!

Yes I have done this.

To me the part of this that makes me assume the worst is comparison of this glitch to the other recent glitch that accidentally allowed resales to book riviera at 7 months. Despite both being glitches one has persisted for a year while the other was quickly fixed in a couple hours. To me this shows a lack of prioritization to fix things that negatively impact resale owners.

Adding in the recent thread that described somewhat hostile feedback from cast members that basically used the glitch as selling point for why they should have bought direct there’s nothing that can convince me this isnt a caculated effort to punish resale owners under guise of glitch (I’m sure it was a glitch and not intentional but fully is intentional they haven’t fixed).

This is my plan as well for next trip! Borrowed the exact number for the room I hope to snag at non home resort. Booked at my home resort and borrowed no problem for that. Just waiting for my 7 month window.

I had my first experience with the glitch... I borrowed some points online with no problems. When I try to borrow 3 more points (I have 20 points left to reach the 50% max), the dwarfs appear... tomorrow is my 7 month window and I'll have to face member services and see if I can still get the room...

I called and complained and it seems they are used to it. Odd that they said waitlists don't have the same problem, but that is easier for them to say because we have no way of knowing that. Missed out on a room for the 50th because it wasn't 9am yet!

I think the reason waitlists don’t have the same problem is because a CM actually has to process them when it matches, so they have the ability to override the borrowing issue when they do that.

At least I could still book the room I wanted with MS this morning. Even the cast member said she needed a supervisor to borrow the 3 points I needed. 35-minute call for 3 points... Unbelievable. Why don't they fix this?
