Did YOUR Mom work?

Yes. I am a child of the 70's/80's and my mom worked. She was a nurse and she went to school for part of that time, getting her BS and then MS. She worked PM shift for awhile, so I had the not so common experience of my dad being more of the dinner chef, laundry doer, homework helper while I was in grade schoo. It worked for our family!

Now I, on the other hand, stay at home with my kids. I was an only, but I have 3 kids and just want to be the SAHM, even though I have my bachelor's degree. It works for our family.

Not until I went away to college. She almost fell to pieces with out me.

My biological mom and dad worked outside the home. I was adopted at 12 and my adopted mom worked also.

I married at 19 and had my son and I had to work outside the home when he was young, but I always had my adopted grandmother keep him for me all the time.

When I married the 2nd time I quit work and stayed home with my two girls (2nd and 3rd child) until they were in first grades and then I went back part time and eventually full time. I was married to a prominent lawyer and didn't have to work anyways but I always enjoyed it and knew my work well. Now I am retired early and am able to spend a great deal of time with my grandbaby since my oldest daughter has to work outside the home.

I am 39 and have a mother who is 78. Mom worked the day she got married in 1949 and never a day outside the home there after. Her job was taking care of the house, raising 4 kids and looking after my dad.

I am 49 and my mom always worked. My dad and mother always worked and I found that I was closer to my parents during the 70's than alot of my friends whose mom stayed at home. I have always worked too. In fact my mom just turned 75 last week and still works 40 hours a week, she doesn't have to, but wants too. She retired from her main job after 30+ years and my dad and she owned a shop for 6 years until my dad passed away. Then she sold it and went back to work. It keeps her young as no-one can believe that she is 75. She is an amazing woman and I am blessed to have a mom like her and a dad like I had. My children, my DH and I have also been real close.
