Did your first trip home meet expectations?

I had all of the same concerns (unmeetable expectations... or exaggerated fears of a reaaaally negative experience).

Our 1st microtrip was to VB -- it was pretty, nice, but we weren't awed. We were barely there 40 hours (we were in Orlando for a wedding). We had an Inn room. I'm certain some of the problem for me was that I was dying to see the boardwalk (home). I wasn't all that "present." I'm sure my next trip to VB will be excellent and much longer.

Our August trip started out with a single night stay at OKW -- I really love that resort. Lush, secluded, with lots of character. And the rooms are very nice -- we were in a studio.

So we slowly are inching up to our 1st stay in a 1 bedroom at BWV. We had a standard view and liked it very much. The room was in great shape and had plenty of space. The access to Epcot and MGM was exactly what we wanted when we signed on (sight unseen). We were there four days and I still feel like I only saw 30% of the Boardwalk scene. We were in commando mode and were park focused. I'm glad/relieved to read that others DVC'ers are there for the resort as much as the parks. Won't that be a fascinating change for us :)

I'm just so curious to see all of the resorts -- "...impatient this one is..."

Our first stay was split between a VWL studio and an OKW 1 br.

The studio was nice, I had expected a nice "homely" hotel room and that's what it was. The balcony was wonderful and it was great having the kitchen for breakfasts. I didn't compare it to our first WL stay as we were upgraded to a honemoon suite ;) ;)

Our 1br in OKW was definitely a WOW!!! It was a big as our appartment at that time. The Jacuzzi was wonderful. We didn't use the kitchen except for breakfast, but it was great chilling out with a video. The washer/dryer were also useful.

As they say, it's hard going back to a studio. We did and had a great at BWV and BCV, but the OKW 1 br stole our hearts!

just be realistic, tone your expectations down somewhat and you'll be pleasantly surprised.

As a early OKW owner, I can honestly say it was "GREATTTTT". We were blown away with the size and beauty of the resort. The GV's are the BEST!

Our first trip home was in July at the BWV. It was definitely a "WOW" when we walked in the door. We had a 2 BR standard view. The first thing I said to DH was "We need more points!":)

Our first trip exceeded expectations!
We bought BCV sight unseen, and the first time we saw a DVC suite (or timeshare of any sort) was when we opened the door to our 1BR. Not only were we thrilled with the accommodations, but we also had a spectacular 5th floor view of Spaceship Earth! I had requested it, but it was still a shock.

We recently purchased a resell at VWL, after staying at the lodge for several trips. I am so excited, and am afraid my expectations are too high, and might be disappointed. Was your first trip home a WOW!!!!! experience? Was there any disappointment? We've always had the best times and greatest memories of our trips, and maybe I'm worrying over nothing. Please share your experiences and your reactions to your first trip home.
We were in exactly the same boat as you, having fallen in love with WL and so the purchase of VWL was an easy decision.

I too worried that reading these boards would give me too much expectation, since we bought into DVC "sight unseen". However, we found that we still enjoyed the Lodge amenities so much, and were staying in so much nicer accommodations than our regular resort room.

Right from the start, we knew it was a great decision!

And since you recently purchased, I think you could use a

WELCOME HOME!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

It surpassed our expectations! Wow! comes to mind.
