Did you/would you name your child after a favorite character (Disney or otherwise)?

Just curious about this as I recently ran into a Star Trek-loving family and their cute little 10-year-old son, Jean-Luc!

As a little girl I told all my friends I was going to grow up and have two boys named Bo and Luke (after my first crushes, the Duke Boys!). I do have two boys, but I didn't follow through on naming them after my childhood sweethearts

Would you/did you name your child after a favorite TV or movie character?

No, not after characters, but he was named after a former boyfriend and my OB who impressed me no end! They're both Richards.

I've liked the name Ariel ever since Little Mermaid came out, so I just might. But I'm NOT having any more kids, so maybe I'll name a pet Ariel someday.

If I had a girl she would have been Kylie Ariel...Ariel obviously from LM.

I'm not quite sure, let me ask my family. My wife Nala and oldest daughter Lilo, say "of course", but youngest daughter Mulan says "no way!"

I'd always wondered about this, too. lol I don't want kids, but I'd name a girl Isabelle so I could call her Belle.

Ariel is also from Shakespeare. I had an obnoxious teacher in high school who named his daughter that and EVERY DAY would tell us it was Shakespeare, not Disney.

I don't know if i ever would, but there were some people my aunt new who named their daughter Bailey Disney, disney as her middle name.

I did not name our kids Disney. Do pets count? We have one dog named Tink and the other one named Belle.

I wanted to name one of our DDs "Disney". DW ridiculed me for that idea 20 years ago, and on many occasions since then. Never mind that DD has been working for Disney for the past two years

We have friends that are brothers named "Tom and Jerry"! Knowing the family, I think it "IS" from the cartoon!

As much as I love Disney, I would not name my kids after a character. However, I very much like the name Lilly, which is the name that Walt's wife Lillian went by.

I named the cats after Star Wars characters and have been forever banned from naming the future kiddos.

Children are not named for disney

Children are not named after Dinsey anything. And although I have a cat named Symba, SHE was named before LK. She is actually named after an African model (circa 10 years ago) who was very catlike!

Funny that so many of us do have pets named after Disney or other characters. I need to get some goldfish so I can use up all the Disney names I love before I bestow a name like "Mowgli" or "Flora" on some future child!

I have a co-worker with two girls -- Ariel and Jasmine. She hopes to have a third girl and name her Belle!

Our dog is named after the golden retriever on The Parent Trap -- Sammie.

I didn't name my daughter after anyone but I had no girls name that I liked (plus I was sure I was having a boy...NOT) and I was watching Waynes world one night and his girlfriend was named Cassandra...I liked the name but I changed it to Kassandra with a K just to be a little different.
