Did you/would you name your child after a favorite character (Disney or otherwise)?

No kids & no pets with Disney related names here.

I very much doubt if I would anyway..............

I've always felt that we each have our own identity & naming someone after someone else in a way is giving that person the others identity.

That's just me tho............ I've always felt very strongly about names.

My two boys don't have any link to anyone else except our surname.

Hey Kallison, by any chance does this co-worker live in a castle and take a horse drawn carriage to work???:rotfl:

No but she acts like a queen.

Although I've been forbidden from naming any child of ours after a Disney/TV/Movie char, DH doesn't care if I give a name like that to our pets.

Our current kitty (whose been with us for 5 years now) is named Rumpleteazer, after the female half of the cat burgulary duo in CATS. We used to have (until she got taken to the ASPCA for aggression issues) an orange cat named Buttercup after Princess Buttercup (The Princess Bride). At one point I also owned a pair of male rats named Nicodemus and Justin (from The Secret of NIMH). My former Japanese Lucky Tree plant (which I finally managed to kill somehow) was named Miyagi-san ( from Karate Kid). ::yes::

My kids - no. I did want to name our dog "LillieBelle" or "Nala", my DD wanted to name her "Belle", but my DS didn't want that, so we named her "AnnaBelle" from "Annabelle's Wish,(DS still got Belle sort of) not a Disney movie, but still inspired by a movie. Sorry for the run-on sentence.

When I was pregnant with DS #1 the Disney channel was a pay channel and had a show called Pooh Corner. I was teaching Pre-school at the time and all the kids loved this show so I was going to name DS Christopher Robin. I was heartbroken that DH wouldn't let me call him Christopher Robin. We did name him Christopher and his middle name does start with an R. But its not Robin. Hind sight tells me DH was right. Christopher would have killed me if his middle name was Robin. All my kids have several friends named Ariel. Many are older than the movie, so I guess that was a name used before the movie came out.

My oldest DS is named Cameron. As a teenager, I was a big fan of the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I have a friend who to this day swears that I named our son Cameron after the Cameron in the movie. This is not true- I'd admit it if it were! Neither of our sons are named after anyone, DH had to name them something that nobody else had. We have Cameron and Douglas.
If I would have had a girl, I would have used Ariel as a middle name.

I don't think I would ever give any child of mine the first name of a Disney character, but maybe a middle name. Probably Belle for a girl (something like Amy Belle, Sarah Belle, or Charity Belle), but I'm not sure about a boy.

My sons middle name is Peter. Named for my dad who I loved very much and I like to think Peter Pan because he will always be my little boy inside.

I didn't name my son after a film personality. I named him after Col William Barrett Travis who was one of the martyrs of the Alamo. I understand that he was quite the character, though. Does that count?

My youngest daughter is named Laura after my favorite books on Laura Ingalls Wilder (and middle name Susan after my favorite twin!) while my oldest daughter is Jenna, which was a popular name in the mid-80's due to "Dallas" though I really didn't name her after that character- just liked the name!
