Did you watch the WB's "Superstar USA?"

If you didn't see it, "Superstar USA" is a reverse "American Idol" where the good singers are turned away and the bad ones are accepted. So it'll be a competition between a bunch of William Hungs. They will be wined and dined like a celebrity and the hoax will be revealed at the end. I'm not sure how I feel about the show, but it seems kind of cruel to do this to bad singers. Still, it seems intriguing to watch it.

So what did you think of the show?

I din't see it.

my 11 year old daughter said "that's an hour I'll never get back. how can they all be that stupid? once they listen to each other sing, they ought to realize they're being set up."

I didn't watch the show and, when I saw DS had the station on (while listening to music), I INSISTED he turn the channel because, like you,

I don't see the humor. Shame on the WB.

I wouldn't say shame on WB, there are a lot crueler things on tv. This sounds kinda funny but it's shows like this have been done before. It's unoriginal but probably will get some laughs... I'll give it a try.

I think I'll pass. Keep us posted, Barry.

Didn't watch it, won't watch it. It's just not right.

At what point will these reality programmers finally realize they have gone too far?

I do say SHAME on the WB. They took funding away from my favorite show and paid for this crappy show. They better hope all of the people they are scamming are in good mental health or they just might have another Jenny Jones incident. Public humiliation is never pleasant and enjoying it is just wrong. These poor people have hopes and dreams just like anyone else and to have the fantasy ripped out from under them at the end of the show is just cruel. I don't care if they do get a recording contract.

That's like telling one of us that we won an all expenses paid trip to Disneyworld and then saying "Psyche!".

I was sitting with DS15 when he came across it while surfing. We both agreed it was too humiliating to watch - and he can watch almost anything! Very sad.

Thats EXACTLY what I said..... If they listen to each other arent they going to wonder how on earth THAT person got picked....??? Then how about THAT person, and that one.. oh wait they're all horrible!

I find it cruel.

I didn't watch it- it seems so stupid.

With current programming trends and apparent likes of the general American viewing audience, I would think this would insure its success, and most likely spinoffs of it in the future.

My bf and I watched this last night and were pretty disgusted with it. They keep advertising it as "Season One!" so I'm thinking they're hoping to get more seasons under their belt.

Apparently, they've already filmed the entire first season. Whoever was the "winner" has already been told that they're horrible. While it was a little funny to watch some of the singers, the reality of them being humiliated at the end is horrible.

We're passing on it for the rest of the show's season. Not interested.

DH and I watched this last night. While it may be cruel to do this, I'm a firm believer that if you become a participant in any kind of reality show, there's a chance things might go sour.

So with that in mind, I found the show to be mildly amusing. The singers really are terrible, and it's downright unbelievable that they don't know it. And especially after they hear everyone else. They must be pretty stupid not to figure it out.

Which brings us to the question - just how real of a hoax is this show?

I caught a few minutes of this show....it grew old fast.

The fun of the bad singers on AI was in watching Paula, Randy and Simon's reactions....not in watching the bad singers.

Actually, that's what I found entertaining about WB's show. The fact that the judges could actually keep straight faces during these horrific performances.;)

I just flipped right past it. Hurting peoples feelings in public on purpose is not my idea of intertainment. AND, lying to the audience and telling them that the performers are there because of Make A Wish so they audience won't laugh at the wrong time it just WRONG!!!!! I saw an interview with the producer and he thought he was pretty smart to have pulled that one over on the audience.

We saw reruns of this show last night and couldn't believe it! I didn't hear that the audience was told that these were "Make-a-wish" people - that is just wrong!! (I think tonight's episode has an audience - up until now, the performers have only been seen by the judges.) Otherwise - these people are idiots! They haven't yet heard each other - so they don't know how bad the other "singers" are. We were wondering too, what kind of "disclosure" paper these people signed - it probably describes humiliation as a possible consequence, but these people are so full of themselves - it's unbelievable! (BTW - they had to let a fairly good singer go on the rerun we saw.)

The host, Brian McFayden (host of the show "Cupid") will lose all credibility with this one - if he had any to begin with!

I think this show is just too cruel.:( Saw the preview, but I didn't watch it.
