Did you think your first contract would be your only contract?

Of course! OKW and BWV were the only onsite DVCs then, and we bought enough points for our anticipated regular travel (Thanksgiving week in a 2 BR). Sometimes I've wished we had a few more points, and every time a new resort opens I get excited to try it out and wish we could buy there, but over all, we're good!

Yes, for 20 years! I bought BWV in September 1999, said it would be my only contract. I love Disneyland and when VGC opened in 2009 (?), I thought about it. One thing that turned me off was I had an April use year and they started with June, which meant I would have to wait almost a year for my first points. Plus it would be a little bit of a stretch financially. I was able to get a reservation with my BWV points at 7 months, so I forgot about it.

With new resorts, my BWV points were not going as far (I have stayed at all WDW DVC except SSR). So I started thinking about it again. By then it was hitting the $150-$160 mark (why did i wait!). In early January 2020, I got a popup on my DVC Resale App for the ever so elusive April use year. I was only thinking 100 points but this one was 150. I had just reviewed my 401K end of year statement and it did well. I was turning 60, so no early withdrawal penalty. What the heck, go for it! I made an offer, accepted, and by months end I was a VGC owner.

Yes, bought 109 points which was good for a week stay at the time or 2 rooms every other year. About a year later, another 51 points would make travel more flexible and we could stay an extra day or two. Again, about a year later, another 100 points means we can get 2 studios every year, we don’t have to bank/borrow. I hope we don’t find out that 1 bedrooms are more preferable. 😂

Yes. We thought 200 would meet our need for every 12-18 month trips but then 2020 happened, which led us to add on another 150 in 2021. We are done for sure now, though.

Kind of, we purchased resale at SSR and bought a small direct contract for the blue card. Planned on once a year trip. That turned into twice a year, added again to SSR and OKW, both direct 75 and 100 point contracts, so not much different than resale prices. Almost bought BWV but the direct price jumped up $30 and amazingly the next day they called and said they have a 75 point contract for me. If they called before the price increase I would have bought it.

We bought 300 to start in an attempt to cover us and the need for 1 bedrooms once we have kids. I wouldn't be surprised if we added another 100 or so far down the line just to make larger rooms easier, but I think we are good for quite awhile.

Yes. And after every add-on:) we've thought-"NOW we have enough points". But the add-ons have happened 5 times. But we haven't done an add-on for 4 years, so I think finally that we do have enough points. It was just a few months after we bought in that we caught the 1 BR bug, so that led to our first add-on. Then after a stay at Hilton Head resort, we decided we'd go there every other year, so that led to another add-on. Didn't take long to realize this every OTHER year stuff wasn't going to do, so we added at DHHIR again. Someplace in there, BCV opened, and it was, for me, the perfect resort for may solo trips in studios. So another add-on. Then DH stayed there for the Dopey and he decided it was convenient for the F&W, so we added on at BCV again to have enough points there for 1 Bedrooms. And now we're done. Whew! I guess we change our minds a lot.

Just closed on the first and I'm thinking it will be the only one. Though if points rent out easily and I find myself going to more RunDisney events, I might consider another one for easier studio access than CCV provides.

When we bought in OKW was the only resort. We bought in with 210 points. I always wanted a few more so we added on 30. That was where we planned to stop. In the last few years we have added on at BWV due its location next to Epcot. I’m sure we are now done.

Yes. Just buying in at all was a compromise between me and my husband, I was absolutely thrilled he was on board at all lol. After a few years of riding the "bonus" first year points wave, my husband was actually the one who brought up that we could really use a few more points. I picked my jaw off the floor and we agreed to an add on that would meet our needs better.

I’m another no. For us we bought our first contract (150 akv) with intention to add on more points resale (150 to 200 more). For us the big question was simply where we would add on as our family was still growing (was 4 at time and planning 3rd child for an eventual 5th and joked if we had twins would change where we could add).

Initially, yes. Bought 1 kinda big contract, 350 points, at BWV. It got us what we needed, and still does for the most part. Went through a very brief addonitis period, really wanted some points at BLT, but didn't act on it, and that's totally passed now.

I knew from the very beginning that I would want more… however, I never thought that we would be able to afford more. Money or no, my husband was SURE we’d be done with our introductory “2 for 1 special” (=buy 1 resale + 1 tiny direct add-on for blue card). 😂

We were both wrong, & I couldn’t be happier about it!! 😁😍

Saaaaame girl

Nope, knew from the beginning that there would be more. A bit after we bought BWV in 2000, they announced BCV & we bought there prebuild. Then they announced SSR & we bought there, also pre-build. We're not big fans of MK, so we instead of buying at an MK resort as they were built, added two more BWV contracts over those years. We were excited that there was finally going to be another resort near Epcot :yay: so added Riviera in 2019. Despite still always borrowing points (the 50% is killing me), we're not going to add any more.
