Did you see the temporary closures starting Jan 10, 2016?

.....so reads like they are taking down the level to break into the berm. A half full river would be great and no need for walls. in 2011 it was bare to the concrete and exposed, also there was tons of non Disney noise. so my fear of using the river to store materials is abated. Maybe they will bring in faux steam whistles

Wow i love the post. I kinda don't like the new rail road plan. What would happens to the tunnel that shows neat things. What part would that map cut out?

I do like and still pray a fp+ type thing comes to DL. I would love if they would fix the F seating area during this time, also would love if frozen mini land happened in fantasy land.
We do need more shade, and we need the phones to work better as well as wifi in the parks. I wonder if these things are planed for some of the new add ons.

Thanks! I looked yesterday, but I forgot to check today.

The Grand Canyon "tunnel" is between Tomorrowland and Main Street; it would not be affected by these rumored plans.

That was a very interesting article. A lot of commenters said they would not believe the rumors. Rumors they are, but it seems plausible to me. Certainly explains why the railroad and rivers will be closed for so long. I hope it still feels "right" when everything is said and done.

Oh good that's the one with dinos and stuff too good good. That's one my fav parts

I hope at least some of those rumors are untrue. I hate the idea of the Rivers of Amercia being reduced by 25%!

The OC Register Article says "The river will be partially drained and diverted to the Orange County Water District’s Groundwater Replenishment system, where it will be treated and stored, a Disneyland spokesman said. When the time comes to refill the rivers, Disney will replenish from the same system." So this would fit with F! also having to be dark until the river is refilled.
I would also assume, then, that the projections that are part of that area and use the F! water screens for Disneyland Forever will also be gone while the river is partially drained?

They are draining the river and holding the water in a reservoir. It's probably a good thing if they wall it off, as I'm sure the river looks pretty gross without water in it. I hope they use this time to do a little TLC on the attractions that are closed too.
These are pictures of what the ROA looked like in 2010 when they drained the river

MC's report says that all the info they posted was released by Disney recently but they don't quote sources (as usual) and I haven't seen anything like that any place else. Has any body seen the same info elsewhere? This is important because MC is famous for simply making stuff up. More often than not, it doesn't come true.

I gotta agree with this. Look at the track record in recent years, Monstropolis and Door Coaster in Hollywoodland, Hard ticket Christmas parties, Subs and Autopia being ripped out, Star Wars takeover of Tomorrowland, and then demolition of Toontown for Star Wars. They claimed they were going to happen and none of them ever did.

True, but this is also why Disney doesn't announce things. They're always changing their minds. The interesting thing is that many of those ideas above point to the idea that Star Wars Land was coming. And now it is. Just not in Tomorrowland or Toon Town, which I'm grateful for. I have confidence in Disney. If they do reroute the train and river, it will still be nice. And I think it's better that they use unused land to build Star Wars, thereby increasing overall park size, rather than demolishing current attractions for new ones. The parks are crowded, will get more crowded, and we need more ride capacity and overall space. Also, exactly what happens with the river and train are not yet known for 100% certainty, but something is definitely happening as they are closing both of them for a year or more as per Disney.

I thought the stats on average hourly ridership on the closed rides were interesting, and speculation on possible impacts to crowds on other rides. On the flip side, some people may decide to postpone a trip because of these closures, but I suspect a very small percentage.

I guess only time will tell what will really happen during the construction of the new Star Wars Land in Disneyland. I will count on the visitors/fans of Disneyland to fill me in as the process begins. I read both MiceChat and Disboards each day, and I am sure the members will be posting daily about the progress that they are seeing first hand with their own eyes. I am hesitant to visit with a shutdown Fantasmic, and no other attraction activity on the river. I hate construction walls, but I love Disneyland. So my vacation dollars may go to Harry Potter over at Universal next year. In the meantime, I will watch for onsite proof of progress on the building of the new land, and exactly what physical shape it will take. What will remain unchanged, what will be changed, and what may be gone forever

People/websites want to be the first to break a big story. Sometimes they get it right, and sometimes they don't. More criticism is passed out for the wrong info, than the praises given for being correct.

Disneyland Twitter has confirmed that the RoA are being changed, and the boats will take a new route upon reopening.

Interesting that the first response is that the Rivers will have a new route when they re-open. Then under that there is another response saying we don't have the information on this and see the Disney Parks Blog for more information. LOL! It's like someone jumped the gun in answering that question. I'm sure the official response is supposed to be that there is no information and see the Blog for updates.
