Did you see the fat America article about DL?

I can't believe it will take TEN months to add a couple of inches! That seems crazy!

Well, you're in luck because IASW doesn't go down for refurbishment until January 22.

Yes I saw that article and I was very surprised. But, in the grand scheme of things, sorry that did not sound right. Okay, in the scheme of things IASW really does need freshing up. :tink:

Its a long referb but people are going to be CRAZY about it when it comes back new and improved. Knowing disney they will most likely add in a few extra touches to the ride besides the water level.

We gotta think that people do change over time weight and all, so for them to fix it to "Our" standards will "Cross fingers" last another 40 odd years for us to enjoy.

The ride needs to be upgraded and improved. It's an old ride and it's due for some remodeling. I think papers and articles like to find "controversial" reasons for something and make a big deal about it. Yes we may be getting a bit bigger..but we are also getting taller, living longer and so forth. My grandfather was a small man, not due to genes but due to being born during the depression and not getting the proper nutrition during his childhood. We all should take care of ourselves and eat healthy, but in reality we all come in different shapes and sizes and if a simple upgrade can allow everyone to enjoy a ride then I think it's a good thing. Over the years rides have been made differently due to Amercian's becoming taller and having longer legs(for example tall people have a hard time riding some older roller costers) but no one ever makes a big deal about that.

And another thing..if someone is overweight,(such as I am) the best thing for them is getting out there and enjoying life and walking around disneyland and enjoying the park. We all know exercising, such as walking is very good for us and what better place to walk around and get exercise other then Disneyland?

It's sad that we will miss out on having IASW closed for awhile, but it's a change that will benefit everyone.

Ummm...it not just a few inches...they are installing an entire new trough, with new boats, and giving the dolls a well-needed touch up. i don't think they will be changing or updating too much...I think with a classic as dear as IASW, they're not adding any Captain Jacks...

They are also working on the roof. It leaks when it rains and causes all kinds of havoc in the electrical systems, which are also being updated and replaced. Most of the ride still has 1960's technology and really needs this. I know it will be down several months, but it will be worth it in the end. One thing I like about Florida's version is the dolls have pastel colored hair. Our only have normal hair colors. I hope we get the pretty colorful hair.:cutie:

Ok besides what others I had to say I have to add when seriously has anyone ever been given a food voucher for a ride issue??? I certainly never have. Obviously this is to use a hot button topic without realizing that Disney is being truthful for the most part, though I believe some of the wheelchair boats might have extra issues that need to be addressed and besides it is IASW's turm for a refurb since so many other rides already had theirs and IASW is much older then some of the those rides (Spalsh and Space mountains). I would say its time, and I am saying this as some one who hasn't been on it in probably 2 years.
