Did you put shoes on your infant while at WDW?

Hi! Will be traveling to the world in September, and our youngest dd will be almost 8 months old. I was not sure if we should / needed to put shoes on her or not. She will not be walking by then, and I hate for her little feet to sweat in shoes, when she'll be carried or in the stroller for most of the day. I do have a little pair of water shoes for her to wear when we let her crawl around in the kids areas, or hold her standing up in the fountains.
Just wondering what everyone else did, TIA.

My son wouldn't wear socks or shoes at that age. I would just make sure to remember to put sunscreen on her feet.

We visited when DD was 7 mos and did not use shoes. We went again when she was 11 months and not yet walking. It was January and cold so we used socks, but she just kept taking them off anyway. I agree with PP - just remember to use sunscreen on the feet and don't worry about shoes while she is in the stroller.

DS was just 7 weeks old when he 1st went to Disney - it was hot & I was nursing - so the least of my worries was having shoes on his feet! The 1st day I had socks on him but they fell off & got lost by the end of the day. Bare feet for babies is fine at WDW!

We went when DD was almost 7 months old. She wore Robeez with no socks. This worked out well for us. They were not to hot and we were there in September. HTH!

We took youngest DD at 4.5 months and when she just turned a year old(about a month ago). She wasn't walking so I didn't even pack any shoes for her. Just remember the sunscreen! At that time of the year you may need some socks too, for the evenings. Have fun!

I never took an infant to WDW, but I know if it had been my DD (now almost 6) she would have had a pair of shoes to match every outfit!:rotfl: Fast forward to the second child (DS3), he would have been barefoot! I no longer had time to worry about those shoes that never stay on!!!

When we were there with my 14 month old, she would start with shoes, and take them off, no biggie. Except since she was walking, and a photopass photographer will not take pictures of her bare feet on the floor (they could get in trouble). thankfully we brought the robeez and she would wear those, or socks. She loves the concept of shoes, just through the day in the stoller she would take them off. I started keeping socks in my pockets for when she was going to be up and down.
So, I can not see it being a problem, but bring a pair of socks for the diaper bag just in case.
We also got yelled at (okay, not yelled, but scolded), when she was two (and it was days after she turned two), for her wearing overalls with no shirt, the photopass photographer would not take her picture, because she was indecent!!
So, just have socks in the bag in case!

I only put shoes on the babe when they matched her outfit. Darn that Gymboree!

She ended up getting little tan feet by the end of the week!

If she's standing at all, bring some shoes for her. I wore new white shoes once and they were by the end of the trip. I once saw a little girl standing in line for one of the resort boats, and I looked at her little bare feet and thought, ewwww. Then I realized she was rolling a cigarette butt between her toes.....

You can get some really nice soft shoes from www.joshoes.com Alot like robeez, but half the price. And they can't take them off and they won't fall off.

We had our DS at Disney when he was 1yr old and we had little toddler sandals on him even though he really wasn't totally cruising around. I don't know, I just felt weird leaving him barefoot. I don't think he ever touched the ground the whole trip because someone was always holding him or he was in the stroller.

If he is walking or pre walking (dd was pushing stuff around at 7mo and sprinting down the sidewalk at 9.5mo) I would get a pair of robeez or even cheaper.. the knock offs that Target sells for about $12... otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Thanks for all the input!! Our first dd was also walking well by 9 months, so this little one could very well be "cruising" by then. I think I will bring along a little pair of sandals that she can put on when on her feet, and just leave her barefoot while in the stroller. Cool off the little piggies, lol.

*** Love the gymboree shoes... shame on them for making so many accessories for each outfit!! Almost time to spend my gymbucks, lol. :)

My 2.5 year old hardly ever wears shoes in the summer if he's in a stroller. We always throw a pair of sandals in the basket so we can put them on if he wants to get out and walk.

DS was 5 months on our last trip. Most days I put socks on him, but if it was really hot I took them off. We're going again next month and he'll be 9 mos. He's not walking (or even crawling) yet, and the weather will be hot and steamy, so I don't plan on putting anything on his feet. I will keep some socks in my diaper bag in case he gets chilly in the A/C.

We took DD at 8 months and never worried about shoes. I knew the minute she got bored in her stroller she would end up taking them off and throwing them who knows where!

I did throw a pair of little socks in our backpack incase it was chillt in the AM or PM.

No. My kids did not wear shoes until they needed them as protection. It is so pointless to make the kid uncomfortable. Even in winter, socks and booties are better than shoes.
One when my oldest was a baby we went into a restaurant and were turned away because she was only wearing socks... we never have returned to that restaurant.
If you plan on taking some shoes, please make them flexable and soft soled. I don't get why people still buy those hard stiff shoes for the little ones.
