Did you pay full direct price?

You may want to make this a poll. There should be an option to make it a poll. We are a no. Bought some VGF2 points when they first went on sale. Think we paid in the $170’s.

No, we didn’t buy direct until the summer riviera incentives. $32 off a point at 200 and magical beginnings. We considered off and on before the price increases but after it broke 200 we thought we were out. Until we found out all the incentives that were being offered recently.

Do you mean without any incentives? I think most people purchased with incentives.
Yes - without incentives. I bought direct with a $70 off per point incentive. I wouldn’t have bought direct without the incentive. I’m wondering how many people are paying over $200 per point at any resort. It must be enough to keep the point prices going up.

It will be interesting to see how many, if any, respond that they paid full price at $200 or more per point.
Or if we all had incentives or bought re-sale.

Given DVC is always running incentives on actively selling resorts, I think those who answer yes will be minimal. This board is particularly value conscious, too.

You would pay full price if you buy less than 100 points (or a slight variation of point amount depending on incentives) or bought a sold out resort which isn’t currently running incentives. You can only buy less than 100 direct as an add on to your current membership.

That being said, you can look at the sales reporting each month and see a very small percentage of people do buy at full price because they fall into one of the two buckets above.

We paid $171 per point for Riviera earlier this year.

Definitely not. We waited for a good direct deal and got our direct points (Riviera) earlier this year for $158 with magical beginnings. Bought just before our use year at $178, sold back the previous year's points for $20 per point, and thus had a full contract with points again a few days later for $158

Many bought VGC without incentives because of its rareness. I used to be one that would've said I would buy full price VGC. But no longer. The availability there is horrible even at 11 months for studios.

Bought VDH direct but would have never ever paid full price.

Aren’t there always incentives except on super small contracts?
We paid full price for a 50 point add on at RIV in ‘23 and then had a small incentive ($12 off) on our 100 point RIV contract in ‘24. Both of those were north of $200.

Everything else was resale.

Technically - no, practically - yes for Poly 2. (Since $200 threshold is mentioned)

I bought a small CCV contract without incentives. At that time CCV resale was high for smaller contracts so it wasn’t worth the relatively small savings.

Rest of my direct points were bought when they had aggressive incentives.

Yep, twice actually. The first time unintentionally cause we were new and didn’t do enough research. The second time 2 weeks ago was intentional since it was a 75pt Poly add-on.

My only real regret was the 150pt VGF we bought at pretty much full price (think the incentive was $2/pt for new members lol talk about terrible new member incentives) because 6mos later they had the VGF flash sale. Hindsight, I guess 🤷🏼‍♀️
