Did you pay for your wedding &/or get help from others? What year was it?

My parents helped pay for the food, but that's about it. Everything else was on us. We found a place that rented a nice room for $500. I got my wedding dress from the discount rack... We'll be married 2 years, next month. It wasn't the wedding of the year, but we didn't want it to be. We just wanted to get married, and we did. :)

My parents paid for the wedding, his parents paid for the rehearsal dinner, and then he and I paid for our honeymoon (his parents gifted us flights for the honeymoon). It was in 2007. I was 24 and he was 25.

DH & I paid for our wedding at a banquet hall in 1996. Paid for 100 people, which was the minimum we had to pay for, 80 showed up. His parents paid for a venetian table (desserts)

We got married in 1990, we were both 22 years old. Our parents wanted the big wedding, neither one of us cared very much. My parents paid for the minister and church. DH and I paid for the gown, the honeymoon, the photographer, the rehearsal dinner and the DJ. Everything else was part of the reception package, which both our parents paid for. My parents paid for the people they added to the guest list and his parents paid for the people they added to the guest list.

We wanted our wedding our way so we paid for it ourselves.

I didn't want the wedding my mum wanted and we felt as it was our wedding it should be up to us so we insisted in doing our own thing and paying ourselves.

We started out with the plan to pay for our wedding. Planning a small wedding of around 25 guests (just our immediate families & our best friends) & brunch reception at a cafe, but as we got further into planning, my parents wanted to invite more of their friends & more extended family-WDW wedding & they all wanted to come! They ended up footing the bill for most of it & we ended up upgrading to a plated lunch reception in a ballroom with a DJ, cocktail hour, etc... My DH & I ended up only paying for our dessert party, honeymoon, & "wedding accessories" (ie invitations, DIY decor, etc).

2011.

My mom paid for the DJ and my dress.

My in-laws paid a couple thousand toward the food cost for the reception.

We paid for the rest. I was 26 and DH was 28.

We got married in 1986 in August after I graduated college in May. My family was very traditional and paid for the entire wedding minus flowers as that was the groom's parents' responsibility. My parents and dh's parents had a conversation that basically followed the Etiquette rules of the day, lol. His parents completely covered rehearsal and gave us $ toward honeymoon. So we had a formal evening wedding with sit-down dinner, live band, open bar, etc. for about 145 people and it was probably still right around $8000 - whole shebang. Cannot imagine what that translates to but a co-worker just got married and her wedding with similar number of guests but buffet food was around $25000. Crazy expensive!
