Hi all...Just wondering if any of you packed snacks and breakfast foods in your luggage..or did you just wait until you were there and then hit the grocery store?

Well, we packed snacks in a mid-size tote, and carry it on the plane. But we also pack ceareal in those little mini-boxes that they sell in packs, and buy milk @disney

I used Netgrocer to place an order for my upcoming trip...the shipping wasn't too outrageous & we won't have a car.

Yes, we packed both snack and breakfast foods in our luggage. The breakfast foods were used up and we hardly touched the snacks. Now we were on the dining plan, so we had so much food thrown at us, we were stuffed. So I am assuming that had we not gone with the dining plan we would have used up the snacks as well.

We pack breakfast items and snacks in our luggage. My favorite snack to take is shelled pistachio (sp?) nuts and dried fruit. I take snack size ziploc bags with the nuts into the park with me. This year I am also taking the Crystal Light packets for individual bottled water. I am not a big fan of the Florida water. I always order water with my meals & I will definitely be putting Crystal light in my water.

We packed a whole carryon with snacks. Mostly those little 100 calorie pack snacks, some apple juice boxes, bananas, crystal light packets, suckers, gerber fruit snacks, cereal bars, rice krispie bars, raisins, etc. It worked well for us, and gave us space for souvineers.

I usually bring our breakfast food (bagels, cereal bars, etc) and some snacks. Just be prepared to have your bag hand-searched (if you check it). For some reason, everytime I have put food in a checked bag, it is searched. Not a big deal for me, but I know some people can't stand it. I asked one of the TSA people why they do this and he wouldn't explain it. Maybe terrorists tend to pack food in their luggage? :confused3 Like I said, I don't mind, I just think it is really odd and somewhat amusing.

We typically pack a ton of snacks in a smallish duffle bag that we carry-on, such as cereal bars, apple sauce, Gerber fruit treats, graham crackers, and carrot sticks/ranch. As well as some water, and juice boxes. This is both to assure that we can feed DDs if there are flight delays, as well as to have snacks at our destination. We go to the store once we arrive to buy milk/soy milk, yoghert, and other large/spoilable groceries.

We have a carryon packed with nothing but snacks and water. We are big water drinkers and heard that the Florida was has a "taste" to it. So I wanted to make sure we brought water we likes. Also, we packed breakfast type things to eat in the room. Poptarts, ceral bars and such. Also packed the sweetpea's fave snacks along with nuts, fruitsnacks, granola bars, and some candy. Yeah, I give my kid candy. Hey we are on vacation. The bag is packed pretty tight and im sure we will use up almost everything we take. That way, we have extra room on the way home for souvineers and such. Im half expecting the bag to be searched since I heard that bags with food for some reason sets off alerts. :confused3 Maybe has something to do with sniffing dogs. Confuses them or something. Who knows. I will let you know how it works out when we get back.

We always take snacks...WAAAAAYYYY too many snacks. Then, we get hungry for the stuff in the parks. Still, it's become a tradition.

We stayed in a townhouse last trip, we didn't take snacks down, but had left over for the trip home. It was a few small boxes of cereal. Our luggage was opened and the box was opened (still sealed, just box opened).

We always take snacks....I place an under the bed plastic tote in my luggage...this was the food does not get crushed. I make sure that I pack no open food in case the bag is searched. It it the best way to go. For a couple of months before each trip I grap a couple of things to bring on each trip to the grocery store!! Always plenty of Disney Fruit snacks and breakfast food!!!

You'd think they didn't have food in FL. :rotfl:

Basically I buy things on sale and with coupons. It pains me to then pay full price for something when I'm already splurging on a WDW vacation. Sure we make a pretty good living, but that doesn't mean I feel comfortable with not saving when I can.....

We pack goldfish, pretzles, microwave popcorn, gum, crackers, peanut butter, squeezable jam, granola bars, etc. In a cooler bag, we pack 1 64oz water bottle for each of us, yogurt, cheese. Strictly carry-on.

Once we arrive in FL we stop at WinnDixie for soda, milk, eggs, bread, bananas, apples, beer and wine.

We've done this four years straight now and it's worked out just fine.

Same here.

I can't believe how much food we end up bringing back home.

For those of you who packed food in your checked luggage did it work out ok? Did you do anything special to protect it? If they are boxed like cereal or goldfish do they make it without getting crushed? We are on the dining plan, but I need to cover breakfast and snacks for the kids. Do they sell milk at the resorts? Thanks.

I did this in 2004. The bag was checked but we didn't have any problems. I packed goldfish, cereal, chips,(Pringles and lays in the can) cookies….

You can buy milk at the resorts. I believe I paid about $3.50 for a half gallon at PC last spring.

TSA hand-checks luggage with food in it because some foods, especially solids like chocolate, canned or dried meats, dense baked goods, or powders like ground coffee, can look very much like explosives when you look at them via xray.

It is generally a good idea to make sure that any food packages in checked baggage are factory sealed. They won't open factory-sealed packages, and that way you will know that no one has actually rifled through the food itself.
If they need to check carryons they will do it in your presence.

The only snack foods we keep in our room are nuts and a bag of cookies; everything else is breakfast goods. We may bring it from home if we are only staying a couple of days, but for long trips we do an offsite grocery run.

We use a lot of organic products so we are taking instant oatmeal, juiceboxes, applesauce, cheddar bunnies (i.e., organic equivalent of goldfish) - the staples of my kids' snacks and breakfasts. We'll pack water in whatever room is left.

From past experience we have found the organic selection at the large Orlando supermarkets to be pretty poor but they do have milk, bananas and other fruit so we will zip over to one of those our first morning. (There is a health food market but it is a bit farther than we'd like to drive)

We always pack a "snack suitcase" for our trips to WDW. On DD6 first trip in 2002, my parents went with us and packed a whole suitcase full of her favorite snacks. It has since become a tradition--my kids would die without the "snack suitcase". It typically contains chips, goldfish, fruit snacks, pop tarts, cereal bars, etc. We have never had any trouble with food being crushed our opened by security.

we are taking a toddler with us, so friday i fed ex snacks, juice boxes, diapers, wipes, baby needs. It was only $9. I didnt want to have to lug all that at the airport. I will still pack alot of snacks in our suitcases.
