Did You Know....?

Did you know there are 92 known cases of nuclear bombs lost at sea?

According to Krispy Kreme: "Did you know that the hole in the center of the doughnut is credited to a young boy named Hanson Gregory, who, in 1847, suggested to his mother that she put a hole in the middle of her "fried cakes" to ensure the cake was fully cooked in the middle? As doughnuts emerged as a popular treat during the 1930s - 50s, steps were taken at Krispy Kreme to modernize the doughnut-making process. Hand cut doughnuts became a thing of the past with the Krispy Kreme automatic doughnut cutter, which extrudes the dough by air pressure to form a perfect doughnut shape. This technology is still used today in our retails stores and until recently, the infamous doughnut "hole" was not available at Krispy Kreme retail locations. We've now added doughnut hole cutters to our doughnut-making equipment and are able to produce bite-size versions of some of your favorite doughnut varities...."

I need to do a small tribute to the Opossum. I think I ran over the tip of one's tail last week on my way home from work. Tiny thump = lots of guilt  Sorry Mr. Opossum!

If an opossum can't escape a predator, and hissing and showing its teeth do not scare off the predator, they pretend to die. The thing is, it's not doing this because it wants to; it can't really control it. Its muscles tighten up in fear and it faints.

Did you know that making annoying sucking noises through your teeth will make the person who is forced to sit next to you all day want to punch your face in?

I need to go home...it's been a long day. :guilty:

Did you know the common goldfish is the only animal that can see both infra-red and ultra-violet light.

Did you know that a series of earthquakes 1811-1812 near the Mississippi river town of New Madrid, MO rang church bells 1000 miles away in Boston, and damage was reported as far away as Charleston, South Carolina, and Washington, D.C? At least 3 of the series of earthquakes were felt throughout much of the U.S. and as far away as Quebec. Survivors reported that the earthquakes caused cracks to open in the earth's surface, the ground to roll in visible waves, and large areas of land to sink or rise. The crew of the New Orleans (the first steamboat on the Mississippi, which was on her maiden voyage) reported mooring to an island only to awake in the morning and find that the island had disappeared below the waters of the Mississippi River.
