Has anyone eaten at the Plaza restaurant in Disneyworld? Do you need priority seating? I always thought this was just an ice cream place when we've walked by...lol...now I'm intrigued.

Has anyone eaten at the Coral Reef?? We have small boys and I think it would be great to sit in friont of the aquarium..any advice? Thanks!!!

Ooops! One more thing...I want to do the Fantasmic dinner package and would like a recommendation of where to eat with it. Thanks again!! I love planning our meals at Disney, but there's too much to choose from!!

Have not eaten at the Plaza yet. We did lunch at Coral Reef last fall and found it way overpriced. The setting is beautiful, but I don't think we would go back.

Tinks, I've eaten at the Plaza twice. Once, with a party of 3 on a weeknight we walked right in - great food and lots of fun attention for my then 4YO dd.

The second time we had a very large party (with no PS) and it was a rainy Sunday afternoon. We had a long wait. Again, the food was great.

Whether you make PS or not is up to you, it's not a huge place.

I also like Coral Reef, I know not everyone does. We took the then 4YO DD there also, and she loved watching the fish. While I did enjoy the meal I remember the service was slow.

Can't answer about Fantasmic package, never done it.

Happy planning. :D

We haven't made it to the Plaza Restaurant, yet, but we have eaten lunch at Coral Reef. "We" included three adults and two children (3 and 8), and we all loved it!! Our server was wonderful, and we had a magnificent view of the acquarium.

I had the lobster bisque and a seafood dish that's no longer on the menu (yum!!). My son got to try allligator for the first time, and my daughter-in-law (the chicken) had a steak. The grandkids loved my bisque so much that I barely got two bites. Next time -- and there WILL be a next time -- they're ordering their own.

I would encourage anyone to try Coral Reef once. You just might be "hooked." I know I am.

Pat

247 days and counting . . . again!

we have eaten at the plaza many times. we always make PS although there are times we did not need them. the tomato bisque is great! the portions of the sandwiches are large enough to share. enjoy!!:p

Our family loves the Plaza as well! The sandwiches are really good and the prices reasonable. We always make a PS too, but like Disney Queen said you don't necessarily need it, but I'd rather play it safe.

We have done the Plaza w/ PS. Great food, and a nice alternative to counter service. I recommend it.

The Coral Reef is okay. I am glad we did it, atmosphere is lovely. Food is over priced and okay. I would do it again.

For the Fantasmic Pacakge we did the Brown Derby. Its not cheap, but food and service was great. I recommend it. If its a beautiful day, stop by the podem outside the BD, prior to your PS and request a table outside.

Ok, where is the Plaza restaurant? You've got me intrigued for our next trip.

Plaza has excellent food and large portions.

ebaynut, the Plaza is at the end of main st on the right side as you take the back way to tomorroland.

herc.

We always have at least one meal at the Plaza!!! The sandwiches are great - and very big - perfect for sharing!!! And try the shakes!!! They are the best!!!!

I usually get a PS, just to be sure the wait is minimal!! We usually get seated within about 5 minutes of our PS time!

Hi,
There are 2 Plaza's. One is the Plaza restaurant and the other is the Plaza pavillion. The pavillion is the counter service one.

:D Thank you all so much! I made PS for the coral reef for lunch...the menu is the same and the prices are cheaper than dinner:p

We are also planning to try the Plaza restaurant. I am going to do PS for that as well but I haven't made up my mind what day to try it out yet! We like trying new places....but it's hard to squeeze in the old favorites too!!! Thanks everyone!

Plaza restaurant is a great place for a casual meal at a reasonable price. A lot of the meals are large enough to share unless you're big eaters.

The Coral Reef is beatiful, but the menu has changed and I don't find it appealing, the service has been just kind of OK, and the prices are very hgh for the amount and quality of food. A nice place to say you've eaten at, but it hasn't been on our short list fr about six years.

For the Fantasmic dinner package, we like Mama Melrose. Nice atmosphere and yummy food. :)

We eat at the Plaza Restaurant every trip - it has been consistent 20+ visits and is the only restaurant that has been on our must do list for that long. Great place for lunch in the MK. Huge portions.

We haven't tried the Plaza yet but we have eaten at Coral Reef. If you are like our family and want to eat your way around the World then definitely give Coral Reef a try. We had wonderful service when we were there and it was really cool eating while all the fish were swimming around. On the downside, it is rather pricey and the portions are kinda small but the food was very, very good. And I am sure your kids would love the Peanut Butter Playdough:p

You're not the only one -- the 2001 Unofficial Guide (which does it's best to be complete) didn't even LIST the Plaza Restaurant! It only listed the Plaza Pavilion counter service. I assume Plaza Restaurant eventually got included, but I haven't seen the 2002 or 2003 editions.

Hollywood & Vine (buffet) is a perfectly good Fantasmic Package alternative. It costs the least, the price being just the standard H&V price plus 15% gratuity. There are no menu restrictions, and you can eat as much or as little as you like. I've done this twice, and both times Fantasmic wasn't even full -- just my luck!

I just made a PS at the Plaza Restaurant for our upcoming May trip. I'm happy to hear so many good reviews. I hope our family will enjoy it.

In regards to Fantasmic, I would suggest Mama Melrose's. We really enjoyed it last year.

still perplexed - is it attached to the counter service part?
