Did you know this about Sony?

My DS' PS2 stopped working - when they put a game in, the screen said *Insert PS format Disc* - this means the laser thing that reads the discs is not working, according to a couple of the PS2 boards I found. Anyway, I called Sony, thinking I would have to send it in for repair, assuming it would be cheaper to buy a new console - they have a replacement policy - for $45 I sent them the broken one, which they inspect to be sure we didn't modify it or whatever, and they send us a refurb unit. Takes about 10 business days. $45 is better than $200, or whatever they cost now!

They do this for all their systems - PS2 regular and slim, PSP (it's $89).

Do you still have the contact info for this? We Just happen to have a bad PS2 as well.

OMG, are you kidding? My kids are on their 3rd new PS2. Granted we didn't buy this last one (grandparents did) but that irks me that I never even tried calling them about it.

Really? I'll have to see if I can't get Junior's sent back in for a replacement then. He never knew that and neither did I. Wow. Thanks for letting us know.

Sure does sound like a lot of people are having problems with them though.
