Did you know that Mel Gibson........

You know, I've always liked Mel Gibson In addition to not being bad to look at;) , he seems very down-to-earth and normal. Very willing to admit his faults and failings as a human being, very willing to take risks with his career. I just think he's cool.

We went to Germany in September 2000 to Oberammergau to see the Passion Play, which is a 6 hour long play that the townspeople of this very small German village do every 10 years. The story goes that Oberammergau was one of the few towns in Germany to be spared from dessimation from the Bubonic Plague, so the people of the town promised God that they would do somehting to honor Him. They have done this play every 10 years(with the exception of during WWI and WWII, for obvious reasons) since the time of the Bubonic Plague. It has become almost like a pilgrimage for some people to go. I have to tell you, it was all in German, which I do not speak a word of,but it was one of the most awe-inspiring things I have ever seen, and the fact that I did not understand the words in no way detracted from the experience.

I wish Mel well!

I believe they do the Passion Play each year in Lake Wales, FL as well (I believe around Christmas - they even have a billboard for it).

There is also one in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

I'll have to watch for that to come out. Sounds interesting. Wish Mel was in it.
