Did you have an imaginary friend growing up?

they were a boy and a girl, and they lived with their Grandparents in the back of my house(a closed in porch) and thier name was Mr. And Mrs Lauper! Imagine my SURPRISE when Cyndi Lauper became famous as a singer!  My Mom said she must be a "distant relative" of the Laupers that lived on the back porch! ;)

Gotta own up. Had an invisible friend for many years when I was younger called ' Gerry Classy.' Why I called him that I have no clue. My parents humoured me, and we used to even set his place at dinner. Sad I know.

hIs name is Toby he's a spider who moved to CA because it's warmer there than in michigan.

After seeing ET when I was little, I adopted Drew Berrymore's character as my imaginary friend...Gerty (sp?) I don't remember when/why I grew out of it.

My DD has a whole bunch of "imaginary" friends...they all come from her cartoons though. Her two favorite are Jax and Max from Cyber Chase on PBS Kids. I don't know why she likes them so much but everywhere we go she's like, "Come on Jax and Max."

My DS had imaginary friends but he didn't name them. I would be in the kitchen or another room in the house and would hear him holding a conversation with them. He would explain how things worked and what he was doing with a certain toy etc. :)

I've heard having an imaginary friend is a sign of intelligence;) My nephew had two, Jubub and Jay Jay - he is in medical school now.

Yes, I had a rabbit named Harvey and a mama elephant and her babies.....They lived in my brain and kept all of my files straight....Don't ask me where I got all that from. I had never even seen the movie Harvey or heard of it when I named my rabbit Harvey by the way.

I had an imaginary friend named Flossie, and my mom says I made her stop the car on several occasions to let Flossie in. :teeth:

I had a "twin sister' but I never named her or told anyone about her. I doubt my parents even knew about her. I was an only child and wanted a sister in the worst way.

I didn't, but my little brother did..... HIS name was June Cement, and I don't remember much about him (as Jay is only 20 months younger than me), but I do remember that one day my DB just stopped talking about him, and when asked where June went, he said "He got blowed up at Apple Baums"..... Jay must of thought it was "Apple Bombs"!!! He's still a dork!! :teeth:

I also had some friends that were twins, and they had an imaginary friend..... just one, and they fought over her.

Oh, and my niece had several, but her favorite one was "Huckle". One day she came over and announced that it was Huckle's birthday. My mom asked if she was going to have a birthday party...... yes, she thought she was. My mom asked who she was inviting, and DN said in a real serious voice.... "Well, Huckle's not for real, that's the problem." :P

My mom and I were talking about this. She says she had a "twin" friend when she was little. She lived in a room that looked just like Mom's room and there was a connecting window . . . the mirror over her dresser! So she would talk to her twin in the mirror's reflection. LOL!

I had one or two when I was really young, don't remember their names.

When I was in high school there was this friend that I got mad at for some reason, I told her that Fred didn't like her and had moved to Florida, don't ask where I got Fred from, just came to me, this was the end of the school year and he stayed there till the next school year, then moved back and Carrie and Fred and I hung out till the end of high school, now Fred lives in my basement and goes to visit her occasionally.

<font color=navy>When I was quite young an older cousin introduced me to "Mary Mischief Maker" who was quite tiny and could fly around the room.

Mary Mischief Maker (and yes, I called her by her full name at all times :) ) kept me company for many years, and she & I had fun. I used to imagine her sitting on my shoulder, flying around the room, perching on the teacher's shoulder, etc.

Fast forward to x number of years, my older cousin now has a family, and I got the idea to send her little son secret pal notes. I did this for a year, and at the end, I revealed myself as Mary Mischief Maker, and how I was always around him and ready to have fun.

Well, about a week after I sent the last note, I got a call from my cousin. I thought she was going to tell me what fun they had with the notes. It turned out that they had the police in their living room because they thought someone was stalking their 5 year old. :earseek: I had told my aunt/her mom about the notes I was sending a few months earlier, but when they were trying to figure out who was sending them, my aunt had forgotten all about that conversation. She remembered it after I reminded her.

They said that when they were talking to the police, the plice were first trying to concentrate on a friendly person sending the notes, and then my cousins thought of me ... said that after thinking it over it seemed like something I would do.

So, here I was all year, smiling to myself about the fun they would be having trying to figure out the secret pal, and in the meantime, they were so concerned about some pervert who called him/herself "Mary Mischief Maker!!! Ooops. :o ... and my cousin had grown up long ago and left our imaginary friend behind - it took her awhile to remember her when I reminded her that she was the one who introduced us!

When they realized it was me, everything was okay.

I never sent a secret pal card again, though.

I used to have an imaginary dog. He didn't have a name, and would never come out from under the familyroom couch. The only thing he would eat was Banana Squished, a very complicated recipe of mashed bananas, sugar, and milk, that I would prepare for him everyday. Hey, I was little, and I wasn't allowed to use the stove! ;) I would lie down on the floor beside the couch and spoon feed him (myself!), much to the delight of my brothers, who were merciless in their teasing about my...dumb dog! One day they decided to leave the back door open... I never saw him again... :)

Ha ha ha!:) Does this bring back some memories......my "friend" was a lady called Mrs. Dunkley!:p Who and what she was is anyones guess but she was a darned good friend when I was little.:)
