Handbag Lady - My story is very similar to yours.
DH moved from the Netherlands to the United States when we got married (so we could be together) and had his mom and some of his friends come over as well. After the wedding we spent time with them while they were still here and we would have felt guilty about going away when they traveled such a long way to be here.
For quite a few years after that we didn't go on any trips except road trips because we were low on funds as it took DH a while to find a job once he moved here and once he did we made a big move and I had to find a new job.
Our real 'honeymoon' trip was our first airplane trip together which was to san Diego. We went to the Wild Animal Park, Sea World, the San Diego Zoo, and drove around looking at the beautiful sites. It was a great trip!!! We consider it our honeymoon since it was our first flying trip together and we got to see so many special things.
We just celebrated our 8 year anniversary last week!
