Hey y'all... Its about a month before our planned vacay and my reservation is through Enterprise... however in lieu of their recent flap with respect to no side airbags, and stories I've heard that they have filthy cars....I'm a little leary. Has your experience been OK?? Did you get a clean car??

I despise Enterprise. I currently have an Enterprise vehicle through an insurance repair. The car, which is supposed to be a standard, feels like an economy class, and the seats have already been stained. It is such a pain to rent a car from them. I had to sign 3 separate times to decline the insurance in the rental office and twice more outside as the agent showed me the car. He did not seem to understand I had other (free) insurance coverage.

I would NEVER pay for an Enterprise rental myself.

We tried renting a van with them a few years ago (up in Michigan) and would never rent from them again. My MIL warned me they tried renting from the local enterprise dealer before and when the time came to pick up the vehicle they didn't have one for them.

So a week before we were to leave I called to make sure they did indeed would have a van for us. Then a nasty snow storm was coming and we were hoping to leave the day before to avoid the storem, so I called to see if it would be possible we could add a day and pick one up earlier. They didn't have one on hand, but would check the other enterprise dealers and get back with us. I was ok with that.. totally understood since it was last minute. They never ended up calling us back so I called them and they said they could only find 1 minivan, but that was out by the airport and they didn't have anyone to go out and get it. So we said we could drive out there and pick it up if that was ok and they said sure and that we should call them to let them know. We called the other location they had the van, but wouldn't hold it for us.. it would be a first come first serve so we rush out there to get it.

We hurry out there to get it and they said they were just cleaning the van up for us and then we were to fill out the paperwork. My DH was ready to sign away when I told him to look it over and I'm glad we did because they were going to charge us a lot more. We showed them the quote we were given and they said because it wasn't from their location they didn't have to honor it. I don't remember the price, but it was way higher so we said never mind we will rent from someone else and walked out the door.

We ended up going to my old work and used their computer and ended up renting something from hotwire for just a tad more than what we were going to rent from Enterprise.

The thing that upset me the most was the location we were going to rent from.. we were suppose to of picked up our minivan when they opened the next morning, but since they didn't have one the night before.. how would they of had one for us 12 hours? It was then we decided never to go with them again.

A couple years later my DH was talking to a car repair owner whose business is next door to that Enterprise location and he said they pulled the same stunt on him. He was suppose to pick up a vehicle for his vacation and they "didn't have one for him". Funny thing was he was at work the night before and saw someone drop off the vehicle he would be using and since he was there 1st thing in the morning he totally busted them in a lie. They just wanted to rent to someone who had a car in for repairs as they could get more $$ then.

2 car rentals ago I had an Enterprise rental and the plug under the motor oil broke and spilled all over my driveway. They gave me a gallon of driveway cleaner to clean it up.

My last Enterprise rental broke down and would not start. The replacement car reeked of smoke and was stained.

You also need to watch for state/mileage restrictions. Some rentals must be kept in state and have a max of 150 miles a day.

Enterprise is my last option for rentals.

We've used Enterprise 3 times for insurance covered repairs, and my brother used them once. He lives in a hovel, so his opinion doesn't count even though he was happy. :rotfl2:

Two of the 3 times, we got crap cars - smelled like pot - but the unit we used is small and serves a questionable neighborhood. For the last repair - we used a larger location another town over and got the same crappy car (I agree with sizing determinations) but it was clean, ran well, and didn't make us high or munchy to drive it.

I would hope they would be better at an airport location like MCO - I'd be curious to read people's experiences there because I would consider renting from them if they had an excellent deal.

Has anyone actually rented from Enterprise at MCO? How was your experience there?

I would love to know this too. Specifically rentals from MCO.
I got the same great rate as the OP. I would much prefer Alamo or National, but the rates so far for next month just don't come close.

The concensus seems that enterprise might not be the way to go, despite the low low rate...I saved almost 100 dollars changing from Avis to Enterprise, but I dont know if that was such a wise idea... plus, Mary from Mousesavers said she had gotten some absolutely filthy cars from enterprise...

We drove a rental down to Disney last year (rented a convertible from Enterprise from our local place in the neighborhood).

The car was supposed to be a mustang convertible (they have an actual website called "Fun Cars"), we ended up with a chrysler sebring (NOT the same!!!).

The car was clean and performed well on the trip up and back, but I do remember having some problems with what I was quoted and what they charged me, and the car not being there when it was supposed to be there.

Oh booty...now I'm nervous. Enterprise gave me the best rate for my 10 day late September trip ~$230 after taxes. Everything else gives me more than $100 more! I'm not too worried about a dirty car--mine isn't surely pristine either, but I'm worried that they'll give me a crappy car and I'll have issues.

I've been looking, but prices seem stuck at ~$350 for my dates. Renting from Enterprise gives me my MNSSHP money! :rotfl:

I did a search on the trip advisor Orlando forum. No one had anything particularly bad to say about rentals at MCO.
I'm hoping the airport location/vacation destination such as Orlando would be much different than say renting in some of these smaller towns while one's car is being repaired.
The only other option to look at is Priceline much closer to your trip.
However, with Enterprise spouse's are free additional drivers.
I really wanted Alamo or National so I could just check in online or at the kiosk then walk across the street and pick out a car in the garage.
