Did you find Facebook.com to be worthwhile?

I guess that's where I don't get it, because if I felt they were worth staying in touch with, I would have. So getting in touch now would just be idle curiosity about how everybody "turned out" which doesn't seem like motive enough.

But I'm glad people who do feel that they want to reconnect can do it more easily and less stalker-ly than they once could.

Different people have different attitudes about it. Where I'm from, I went to a small school and live in a small town. Yes, I've kept in touch with my tightest circle of friends, but did lose touch with others as they went to college, got married, and moved away. Just because we weren't that close doesn't mean they didn't mean anything to me and vice versa. I spent 12 years of my life with a lot of these people, and was friendly with many of them. It is nice to see what they've done with themselves.

But then, I enjoyed my 20-year reunion too. ;)

I had one for a few months, but deactivated it since I never really used it all that much.

Totally! I first got into it when the Foo Fighters board I usually frequent went down for a couple of days; people set up a Facebook Foo board and that's where we all ended up congregating. After that, I met a bunch of them at various concerts and have kept in touch with most; I'd consider some of them very good friends. I've found a bunch of people with whom I went to HS, my first serious boyfriend from college, and even reconnected with somebody I thought I'd never see again (which is a very good thing). :goodvibes

I also ignore the snowballs, flair, etc. Do the senders find out if you ignore? I don't want to offend anyone, I just don't get it (or care to).

I'm not sure if they find out or not. I know I've never been notified that anyone's ignored my flair, but I don't tend to send out very much because I hate feeling like I might be annoying the recipient. But flair's about the only thing I mess with. Some of my friends seem to REALLY get into all of the other stuff (Li'l Green Patch, etc.) and that kinda bores me; flair's just fun. :)

I found myself wasting time on facebook. I would look through all my friend's pictures and before I knew it, I wasted hours online.

I can understand having a facebook to "stay in contact with old friends" but I've found that the majority of the time, if these people were actually my friends they would have my phone number, email address, or just know how to get in contact with me.

As a parent (of a high school student with facebook account), all of the above explain why I can't stand facebook. She grew out of myspace, thank goodness, but FB is pretty much the same thing (however much she insists it is not).

That's how it was for me. There were people who I just LOVED in college. But upon graduation, we all took off with a vengence, anxious to start our lives, and it was next to impossible to keep track of where everyone went.

I'm not on FB (yet...), but I recently did this poll

and was blown away by how many people are on Facebook! I didn't realize that FB is that popular and widely used.

I'm still not sure if I'll open an account, but if I do so it looks like I'll be in good company.

I love Facebook! I have recently connected with a bunch of old friends from high school(21 years ago) on it. We actually had a mini-reunion over the holidays at a local bar and it was a blast! Now everyone is putting up old pics from high school and college and they are hilarious! I can't beive how big my hair actually was:rotfl:
