Did you ever vist a country where English is not spoken and you don't speak the

Yep,

I've been to:
China
Brazil
Germany
Austria
France
Italy
Belgium

and the only language I speak (other than English) is Spanish. (I have been to several Spanish speaking countries.) I always try to learn a few key phrases before I go and now I usually have a translator with me :)

I speak Japanese fluently and baka is a little more insulting than that. It's in the line of foolish or idiot. You can get by in the big cities, Tokyo or Kyoto, not knowing any Japanese but the rural areas would be tough. If anyone is going to Tokyo Disneyland and staying off property, I would try to learn some Japanese. I stayed at the Sheraton and even there they were shaky in their english.

Everyone spoke english in Hong Kong (former British ties and all), but China was another story. Not much english there.

I spent a few weeks in Spain only knowing the words "cervesa" "uno mas cervesa" "tapas" "hamon" and "donde esta el bano." Boy was it tough. Not that many english speakers there. (Although there were more english speakers in the Madrid and the south coast.) Eastern Europe (Poland, Russia) was also hard with only english.

There were more english speakers in Germany, France, and Northern Europe (Sweden, Finland) where I did fine.
