Did you ever get a Christmas card from someone you didn't know?

I did. Today a card came addressed to my dh and I and it is from a family in a town about 45 minutes from here. Neither of us have ever heard of these people! :confused3 How strange is that?

I've had that happen more than once over the years. If there is still time and they put a return address on the envelope - I reciprocate!

That is strange. Do you have a common name? Maybe they think you are someone else. Check your phone book and see if there is someone else with your name in the area.

Is your phone under DH's name? Maybe they were looking for someone with the same name

It happened to us about 2 years ago and they included gift cards and checks. I sent everything back to the senders with a note. We also got some phone calls too. It turned out an Uncle with DH's same full name had moved back into the area without telling anyone his address. Since my DH came up first in the listings they sent it all to us.

Think that's bad? One time when I was younger, I had a flower arrangement delivered to my work and to this day, I have NO idea who sent it. Who'd spend all that money and never acknowledge that they'd sent it? They were beautiful though and I enjoyed getting them very much.

That's strange.

I had a phone call from my bank yesterday stating that I was listed as a reference for someone whose name I've never heard before in my life. I've made myself paranoid trying to figure out how someone got my name and unlisted phone number. Weird stuff... :confused3

Well, I'd rather get one from a complete stranger and have a little drama and intrigue in my life than open fifteen up from my insurance company, real estate broker, dentist, etc. It's basically like "Thanks for giving us money all year, here's a card."

i laugh at the ones from bsns.-i got one via email this year from a bsns. though and i thought that was just wierd (it was basicly "holiday greetings" and an ad).

we get a couple each year and i would wonder who they were from-finaly figure it out, they were a result of our name being listed in a way outdated church directory. the newer members would be given a copy of the latest directory (about 5 years old) and would add all the names to their holiday list.

I haven't gotten any Christmas cards yet, but I did get a sympathy card about a month ago. Guess my DH had passed. :confused3 We also got a message on our answering machine inviting us to a foo-foo wine and cheese party at someones house. They were anxious to show us their art collection that my DH supposedly inspired. Again, :confused3 DH called them back to tell them they had the wrong number, and told them he'd still like to come and see the art collection and sample their wine!:rotfl:

No, but we got one today from the former HOA prop. mgr who we hated with the passion of a thousand suns. I can't wait to see DH's reaction when he sees it. I was kind of like WTFBBQ?!?!?eleventyone!

We rec'd one this year addressed to Mr. & Mrs. DH's first initial & last name) congratulating "Sue" on her remarriage - I was like "Honey, is there something you haven't told me?" :rotfl2:

On MScott's "servicepeople" theme, I cracked up the year we got cards from our auto body shop (two collisions that year) and from a jeweler in St. Thomas (went a little overboard during a cruise. :rolleyes1).

:rotfl: I received one today from Delta and they informed me that they'd made a donation to "their charity of choice" in my name.

We received a card that was addressed to a previous owner (two owners ago). It was from a state prison!! Boy, I wonder what that family was like!!
