Did you ever come back and want to plan a do over trip?

We got back last week and I already want to go back to make the next trip better. Some things were such a disappointment. It was too hot in August, I did not like the AOA LM rooms and my extended family did not get along and it caused a lot of hurt feelings that I won't go into other than I won't travel with them again. We stayed the first 3 nights by ourselves at CSR and we loved it. I want to go back to CSR so much! And I never get to do everything I want to do at Epcot.
Did you ever have a do over trip and was it better? Was it worth it? Why did you plan it?

I am going on my do over trip in 30 days! My last trip I went with someone who had never been to Disney as a kid. It was awful. I actually at one point yelled at her " Your inner child is dead and you are trying to suck the soul from mine!" We went in August as well which was probably also was a bad idea. I am going with just my DH and DD this time. So excited for my do over!

We got back from our last trip and I realized that the SD card with most of our pics on it was missing. 3 months later we were planning the next trip.

Although we mostly had an awesome first trip with our twins last August, there are definitely things to do differently. Here are a few: No park hoppers and use Josh's EasyWDW recommendations for most recommended park each day, eat more like we eat at home and not feel like we have to try different things every day, sleep in a few mornings, go to the water parks, and pay better attention to the maps and times guides.

My son got a stomach virus and vomited in the room for 2 days! Needless to say....it was not magical! I stated that I needed a do-over as we were leaving and got it 9 months later ! :)

One early May I was doing a solo trip. It was raining the day I arrived, but no way was I skipping my California Grill ADR for that night. By the time I got back to CSR late that night it was literally pouring and I had to make a mad dash to my room where the key wouldn't work. I then had to make another mad dash over to check in (and back) to get a new key. By the next morning I was running a high fever and had a really bad upper respiratory infection. It poured rain almost nonstop for the next several days and I spent all those days in bed running a fever, coughing, and almost unable to breathe with an aching chest and sore throat. I didn't even leave the room, just laid there miserable and shivering, nibbling on a few snacks I had brought. I was solo and felt just miserable that trip. I just wanted the time to hurry up and pass, so I could go home. The rain did finally let up the last couple of days about the time I started to feel better. (As a nurse, I always have my doctor write me a presciption for a broad spectrum antibiotic for each trip just in case I get sick down there and am so glad I did, as they finally started to kick in a few days before it was time to fly home. I don't know what I would have done if I hadn't had those antibiotics with me.) Alone, sick at WDW does not make for a good trip.

Yes, we are heading to the redo trip in May 2014...What was to be my University graduation trip with the kids and DH but it turned into the mommy/care giver roll 24/7 as Dh broke his foot badly the month prior and was in a wheelchair the entire time. Pushing the wheelchair (dh hands quickly got blisters) ...some of the time in a tropical storm...while holding twin 5 year olds hands and keeping track of an 8 year old wasn't my ideal congrats trip to myself at Disney. I'm a big photo person and was unable to push, hold etc and take pics at the same time etc. I was so exhausted by the end of the 6 nights I was ready to go home and sleep!
This time I'm taking back up just incase...my parents are coming with us! (and I'm wrapping Dh in bubble wrap prior and he is not allowed to do anything like jump out of an airplane in the months prior to the trip)

Boo...sorry for your not-so-magical experience. Unfortunately, this is why my hubby and I never go on vacation with the extended family anymore. We went with his family about 3 1/2 years ago and felt like we had to do things by their time line. That quickly changed after a few days and my hubby put his foot down.

Yup our next trip is just that. After a horrible trip with my inlaws that literally drove me to drink or eat (I'm a stress eater) constantly and ended up with me in tears because I was having a horrible time, we are going back next year just the four of us. We will do what we want to do. Not deal with the you already got fastpasses for that complaint when they wouldn't get out of bed before ten never mind to the parks and not deal with their attempts To get everything for nothing

We had a redo long weekend. LOL... My last big trip was my family with my best friend, her family, and her in laws. Everyone just sort of tagged on to our trip. This trip was a lot of fun. Loved seeing my best friend and out boys had great fun together. But it felt more like a visit with a friend than it did an actual vacation. So DH and I took the kids for a quick 4 day trip later. Those 4 days felt more like a vacation than the 8 day trip with my Best did.

We did a weekend trip and it rained almost every day. We redid that trip about 4 months later :P

Hope you get a do over. I will never vacation with extended family either. Once with my dad (he was a drag and was sad the 2 days he was there) and once with my mother (she complained the whole time!) We have a vacation mode and it just works for the three of us. God help me if I ever get married. I probably wouldn't want him to come since we have a system and it works!! :lmao:

We did this in May, but shhhhh!! Don't tell my extended family! We'd had such a challenging 4 days with them in early May that we felt like it zapped all the fun out of the trip for the 3 of us & we secretly went back 3 weeks later for a make-up weekend. I've never been so excited to have APs as I was then, that certainly made it an easier decision to go back.

I didn't want them to have hurt feelings but it is HARD to do Disney with non-Disney lovers & even though they really tried, it was just too different. We tour Disney with a pretty relaxed attitude & schedule but it seemed impossible to accomplish that with a baby, people with diff dietary concerns than ours, different interests, ages & level of physical fitness for all that walking!

This past April trip was our do over from the May prior. Mays trip we didn't feel the magic, and we planned another and had a blast.

For those taking vacations with extended family, in laws or friends - I think Disney is too expensive a trip to chance it. About 5 years ago we went to Ocean City,MD with my in laws. It was horrible as my sister in law wanted to control the entire vacation. What we did, what we ate and when. I vowed to not go on another with them. That was sharing the expenses of the home we rented and meals. I can't fathom spending all that $ on park tickets, hotel and food to tag along with someone else and what they want to do. It's funny, my SD went to Disney with my in laws and said her aunt (oh lovely SIL) didn't know about FP for rides, character meet and greets, getting to the parks early, etc. and she was the 1 in charge of that Disney trip!!!!! She "planned" the trip a year in advance but thought the fast pass machines cost extra. Dangerous combination of being too controlling and dumb. Lol

Trip to Disney with my in-laws = automatic do-over trip the next year (plus a solemn vow to never, ever travel with them again)

Yep, with our May trip, now leaving in a week and a half. It was our anniversary trip and the first time in over a year we didn't have DD with us so we slept in...a lot. We also drank...a lot. Which caused us to sleep in...a lot. So we ended up missing a lot of things we would have really liked to have done, but just didn't have time to. We came home and a couple of weeks later we saw Disney was offering free dining and it was pretty much a no brainer. DD and my parents will be coming this time though so that will add another element. They're laid back and go with the flow though so I don't think we'll be butting heads very often.

Sorry you had bad trips but these are hilarious! :lmao:

We had a do-over in April, our first trip as a family we met up w/ my sister and her sister-in-law. Their kids wouldn't wake up till ten and couldn't get to park till noon. My 5 mo old had a cough, we had to take her to an urgent care center to get checked out! Then my pregnant sister ended up in the hospital (she over did it) - and we ended up w/ her son who was afraid of everything! Lol. Our next trip went better, except the rain everyday. Lol. Maybe the 3rd time is a charm :) @ least I know we wont be inviting the in-laws!
