I was doing a ton of things today and calling my friend in the middle of everything. She didn't answer so I left a message. The problem was that at the end of the message I said "I'll talk to you later... I love you", Kim. Now, of course I love her but it's not something I say to her on the phone :rotfl2: . I just left a message for my husband and it's a habit with him so I think it was still on my mind. I had to call back and explain on her voicemail  .

Has this happened to anyone else or am I the only weirdo :confused3

Oh, yeah...I caught myself when I was talking to one of my girlfriends. "Okay, talk to you soon, love you!" Then I said, "Wait...did I just say I love you?" She laughed and said, "Yes - it's habit, isn't it?" I agreed. It wasn't really embarrassing; we'd known each other for quite a long time. We just laughed and forgot about it...until now.

kinda..........My best friend and I always tell each other we love each other before we hang up.....wierd I know, but no one ever accused us of being sane ;) ...... so we were talking the other day and I said Ill talk to you later....she said ok, and I said love you too.........she said did you just say love you too?........I was busted but we laughed it off

heh...I was hoping no one was going to remember that story.

Oh, I missed that one...do tell!:listen:

My friends and I always say it, so no biggie. My family and I do not, even though we are close. Go figure!

It's never a negative to have someone say they love you but I can't wait to hear her response!

One of my professors said that to me as I was leaving his office one day.

It was rather a funny way to start dating, but we did. It ended badly.

I say that to my best girlfriend all the time.

I don't think you are a weirdo but you may think I am...I have said this to my mother several times after just talking with DH...it is not something we say in our family, we don't hug either, thank goodness for DH-he showed me it was ok to say those words and hug!:goodvibes

Totally OT leading to on-topic, but my husband and I both don't come from homes were the parents kissed or said I love you every day.

I wanted to be in a relationship where this was the norm, so, we are now that couple that kiss upon leaving or greeting, and we say I love you about 1000 times a day.

Of course when I am distracted and finishing a call at work, I have been known to say it automatically to anyone and everyone. Good thing I'm on good terms with my clients! :rotfl:

The president of our company was telling a story about this exact thing the other day.

He always says something like "love you. bye." when talking to his wife on the phone. He said he was talking to one of the vice presidents of one of our biggest clients - AT&T - when he said the exact same thing to him....."love you. bye." :rotfl2:

No, but I have absent-mindedly called my friend "honey" thinking I was talking to DH.

OMG! That is too funny!

I said it to current BF only 1 month into our relationship. It was early, I was tired, we were on the phone and I don't know why I said it, but I did -and from what I remember I said "I love you too". By that though, I guess he knew it was a mis-speak. Thank goodness we are still together. I don't think we "officially" said it to each other until about 3 months or so in - and I definiately let him go first (kinda)!

We must be in the same family. I was so excited to start acting this way too!! ;)

YES! I used to do tech support and I was leaving a message for a user that needed help with her PC and at the end just blurted out "love you"! My coworker heard me and was :rotfl2: Thanfully I somewhat knew the woman and didn't feel too stupid :rotfl: I have to say I :lmao: when I read your post!

I did that once after I had DD, I was in my own happy place after taking Percocet and ended a converation with my best friends husband by saying "love you, bye"

Yep I sure have and I bet he was surprised. :rotfl2:

You get into that habit of telling your Wife, Daughter, Mom etc.., Love Ya at the end of the calls. I know I've slipped up with male friends once or twice in the past.

My friends' husband said it to me - on their wedding day!

We were talking about some last minute details, and he ended the call with "I Love You, Bye". :rotfl:

A lot of my friends do the "I love you" thing after phone conversations or in emails. :goodvibes There have been a few times where I had to "catch myself" with the ones who don't. It really can be tough to sort out how to act around various people. Some of my friends use a LOT of affectionate terms; sweetie, honey, love....and others never do. So yeah, I can definitely relate to what happened with the original poster!

Coolbeans, I have been there too! I've been in that "happy place" with pain killers and also with sleeping pills. Nothing like a good ambien to make you think you love everybody! :rotfl:

Well my deal wasn't because I had just sait it to someone else. I just got confused as to who I was looking at, and well, I had sort of developed a crush on the person I said it to.

It was right after my son was born....I had a csection and they gave me whatever drugs they give you that make you wacko. Looked my doctor square in the eyes and told him I loved him. LOL. Gaaaaah!! Its been almost 13 years and I still cringe when I think of it. He played it off real good tho, he just laughed and said, "I think you are talking to the wrong person" and turned my head toward DH.

DH of course got GREAT amusement from it all. He could not WAIT to tell me ALL ABOUT myself. The minute, and I mean the very second, I came to, he told me about my little faux pas. OMG....I was so embarrassed I stopped going to that doctor. I was supposed to go for my 6 week checkup and I waited for a day where I knew he was in surgery and went and saw another doctor in the practice. After that, I switched doctors all together. The weird thing is I really did like the man a lot...I guess because he took care of me throughout my pregnancy (which was a shaky one in the early months) I developed a crush on him. I think all drugged up I really did think I loved him. :rotfl:

Yes, I'm a dork. :rotfl2:

Oh, btw, DH was unbelievably obnoxious during the c-section, instead of being up with me holding my hand, etc., he was down with the surgeon, checking it all out. And then he would run back up to me and tell me crazy things like, "your ovaries are out of your body and laying on a table!!". Grrrrrrrr, I was just about ready to tell him off but a nurse beat me to it. He was a firefighter for years and maybe in his former life he was a surgeron.....he never misses those shows where they are operating on someone. Needless to say the second baby I threatened him with his life if he dared to mention to me where my body parts were laying!!
