That slavery's still active in countries?

I learned about this a few days ago.
I'll admit, i was surprised because i thought slavery was gone.

Yea,
there's ~27 million slaves worldwide.

It just boggled my mind.
I couldn't believe it.

so did you know slavery was still active?

i mean, i knew about human trafficking and such but still..

Just think of those little countries or places you never hear of.
There are tons of countries out there with slavery and unjust laws.

Yup i knew that, emancipation of serfs in Russia,end to slavory in America and Britain occured in 1868. Im almost positive, if im off by a year or so im sorry, heh to much world history to remember.. But yes I am very aware that slavery still occurs in other parts of the world. Nor would I be surprised, did you know that there is massive and replusive genocide going on in Africa? I had no idea that genocide this awful still remained. I cannot recall which 'state' persay this is occuring in but, I will let you know tomorrow. All I do know is in this genocide these soldiers are running their people out of their villages into the dessert, slaughtering parents infront of children.. Its just repulsively horrific. We are doing a fundraiser to help this cause at our school, it is just so sad.

well, the whole slavery abolishment only applies to america. therefore, im not shocked. i think that its sad and...inhumane, but i think its in the nature of mankind to try to best others. slavery is just an extreme form of showing that you're best, isn't it?

not only is there just slavery but what repulses me most is that there is ALOT of child slavery, probably more than adult slavery, because it is easier to minipulate children.

Yeah,there are people even here that are slaves.They are brought over to work as maids and know no english and their employers meet them at the airport and threaten to kill them or their families if they leave.

Honestly I can't imagine what life as a slave is like, or how sad it is. It's so hard to picture. It's almost hard for me to believe it really happens.
