Whitman's is my favorite chocolate, and I got a box for Valentine's day. i haven't opened it because I'm trying to be good, but I just gave in and they taste funny. Or different. Did they change the recipe?

I am glad I am not the only person who noticed this. I think they did. And they made things much smaller too, didn't they. :sad2: Could that chocolate "boy" get any thinner?

I know! I got a box at Christmas and they weren't good. I wonder where they are making them now? Have they moved production out of the U.S.?

My favorite was always the chocolate with the minced nuts in it, shaped like a pb cup, sort of. Now it's icky!

I am SO glad I'm not the only one. I thought maybe I had a bad box and should return it, but I guess if they all taste bad, there's no point.

Crazy/stupid Whitman's. Some things you should never cheap out on.

BTW, box says made in the USA

I know that Hershey?? stated last year that they were not using milk chocolate any longer in certain candy bars (ie. Kit Kats)... and instead it was a combination of sugar, etc.... forming a "mocolate" really... :rlol: The regular Hershey bar still has it, but if you read the ingredients on some of the other candy bars, you will find no mention of milk chocolate any longer.....:rolleyes1

Wondering if Whitman's might be following suit to save $$$?????

Really? How awful! Some things should just NOT be done!

They've shrunk the amount of candy in the box so much over the past few years, I stopped asking DH to buy it for me. Guess I'm not missing anything by not getting them now.

This was my thought as well. There are not many drug store brand chocolate that is worth eating at all any longer, IMO. They have all cheapened the product somehow--either by the quality, or by the size.:guilty:

For $3-4 more you can probably get first class chocolates from an actual chocolate shop in your area. Once you start buying the real stuff, you'll never go back to the drug store stuff!

I use to really love both Whitmans and Russell Stovers but anymore I have noticed that they just aren't the same. It use to be we could polish off a box in a couple of days, but now they just sit for a week or more.

I really love good chocolate, but I also use to enjoy a good Whitmans Sampler every now and then. I am glad to know its just not us!

I noticed long ago that Hershey's Kisses did not taste as good as they used to. I still don't know if is that my taste changed or Hershey changed them.
