Did we make a mistake????

After weeks of illness which cancelled our week long trip at the YC; I'm finally feeling some better and we are booked for a long weekend trip - the YC/BC area is totally booked so I we booked the Poly - this is our first time ever at the Poly.

Why I'm asking if this was a mistake is that I need to spend a lot of time relaxing during this short trip. We will likely not be going to any of the parks and doing a lot of relaxing at the resort, using the pool area, monorail to other resorts for dinner, and watching the fireworks (Wishes is my favorite :goodvibes)

So is the Poly to "busy" of a resort for a relaxing trip? Is the quiet pool crowded? We love the quiet pool at the WL - does the Poly compare to this at all?

Basically I'm asking should we keep our Poly ressie our try to book another resort :confused3

Thanks for any help! If we change our ressie I need to do this tomorrow as we check in this weekend.

So sorry you've been ill, but glad you are feeling better and ready for a weekend trip.

The Poly is one of the most relaxing resorts on property - depending on what time of yr the main pool can be crowded, but the family friendly resorts all get crowded.

The palm trees, Hawaiian music playing...it is all very relaxing. Each time we've stayed at the Poly for a long weekend we feel we've been away longer. We find it far more relaxing than the BC/YC.

You can see WISHES (have forgotten what the new summer fireworks are called) right from the Poly beach and the Electrical Water Pageant as well.

Hope you have a lovely weekend. :goodvibes

I think you picked a perfect resort! The resort is very relaxing, the quiet pool is wonderful and while the main pool did get crowded (but not horribly so) for our busy holiday weekend visit, the quiet pool was always deserted. The lush grounds, beach area, nice restaurants and easy access to the TTC is all very nice.

Seeing Wishes from the Poly beach is the next best thing to seeing it inside the MK. In fact, I think that view is better than from the observation deck or CG at the CR.

Enjoy your relaxing weekend, you deserve it and I am glad you are feeling well enough to go!

The lobby can be a bit hectic on the second floor near O'Hanas & Kona Cafe @ meal times. The monorail can be overwhelmed when the Spirit of Aloha show lets out - so avoid those areas @ those times. You might want to ask for a room w/ a patio/balcony - not all of them have one. The grounds are beautiful and not terribly crowded w/ the exception of the volcano pool area @ times. I like taking the boat to the front of the MK, just to ride the boat. The monorail is an easy on/off and it is super easy to visit the GF via monorail. Have a lovely time, I think you'll find the Poly very relaxing and welcoming, from the moment they give you your lei @ check in.

Thank you everyone :goodvibes

After concerns over the pool area - which we plan to spend most of our time.... I called back to WDW travel again this morning and the YC - our original choice from our cancelled July trip was finally available :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

So we switched back and DS is so excited about SAB pool and the YC quiet pool is normally well quiet so we are very happy with this choice.

We plan on going over to the Poly to take a good look around for a possible future trip. But for this short probably no park trip - the YC with SAB feels right.

Thanks again! Not too long now until we here "welcome home" :goodvibes

Selecting the Poly is good news and bad news. It good that you selected the Poly because of the relaxing atmosphere, lush landscaping, views, 'Ohana, Kona, shopping, monorail, fast access to GF and CR, fireworks on the beach, electrical light pageant, launch (boat) to MK, short but pleasent walk to EPCOT monorail, Hawaiian music everywhere (even underwater at the pool, luau, tiki torch lit walkways, and the best Mai Tai's on the planet (Tambu Lounge). The bad news is you may be ruined for life on other resorts...

Congrats on getting back into the YC! We too love SAB and that whole area. We haven't stayed at the YC, but we've been to the BCV too many times to count, and LOVE it!

The Poly is our dream hotel to stay at. The problem is, I just can't cough up the cash to stay there! Since we are DVC members, we almost always stay on points. Relaxing areas at the Poly include the hammocks on the beach area. While no swimming, it would be a great place to take a nap or read a book!

I think you will be much happier at the Yacht Club. Stormalong bay, the "pool" is so spread out that I found it most relaxing. There are hot tubs scattered around that provide some privacy. Even at night, there is plenty of lightening to continue to read a book or walk around the pool area.

We stopped at the Poly one night at 10:30pm to check out the pool and the pool area was overcrowded and the area surrounding it (the pool deck and beyond) was very dark. I can't imagine what that pool area is like during the heat of the day, the pool is as big as some backyard pools!
