Did they think the water was enough?

It's 90% of what Castaway Cay offers, and people love that island.

They will be adding the nature trail and bike rentals, which Castaway also has. The only big thing that's missing is the Stringray area, but they offer snorkeling excursions that take you out to reefs, which is a big upgrade over Castaway IMO.
That's what I was thinking. CC doesn't offer much, but a beach day. Disney is probably limited by the Bahamian government as to what they can do in terms of adding water slides and such things in the water.

Do they not have it sectioned off like in castaway? Craig mentioned that there was a limit to how far out you could go in the water and it was actually even shorter than castaway so I didn’t assume this would be an issue.
They may have it roped off, I can't tell from video and didn't see anyone specifically mention it. But there's no jetty or breakwater. It appears to be more like the Serenity Bay beach where it's just open to the ocean.

But at Serenity Bay you can rent floats... so...

The water might be enough for many people, it would be for me - but I think the expectation was that you would be sitting on the beach next to the ocean, not behind the dunes or fighting for the limited chairs on the beach. And the flies are just 100% gross, unsanitary and completely unacceptable.
I can see a new occupation for people on the island where you pay them to hold a chair for you on the water side.

Everyone has their preferences for what they like to do on a day at the beach. I loved spending time swimming and exploring and can’t wait to do it again. The beach and nature trail is simply gorgeous
I thought the nature trail was not open? If it is, where did you pick it up? This is something we really want to do and will be there Saturday and Monday.

It was open for cast members.

Perfect.

The water isn’t enough for people. They can literally book any other cruise for that people book Disney for…Disney.
You know, Disney just can't win. If there's too much Disney, all we see is whining that Disney is forcing its IP everywhere and that they should go back to the more subtle, light Disney touches. If they go with a more subtle theme, all we see is whining that there isn't enough Disney. You all are impossible.

They have chosen not to have floats for whatever reason. Maybe this will change in the future, maybe it won’t
But that is kind of my point- For whatever reason, no floats. For whatever reason, no set space for Vibe\Edge kids. For whatever reason, no bigger slides like Pelican Plunge. For whatever reason, no sports area like Da Shade. For whatever reason, no shade on the pier...

Also wondering how long it will be until every thread on this board is about Lookout Cay. I need to stop clicking on them. :P

Well that's great for you guys, but when can guests use it? Will it be open this weekend?
I'm not a cast member, but @Mags2002 is. That's why she could use it. I wasn't there at all!

The cruise was a preview cruise and guests were told that not everything would be available to them. The first real cruise is the current Fantasy cruise. We'll see what happens.

Does anyone know if the trails were open on Monday?

DCL has their reasons for doing absolutely everything. Most CMs and Guests will never know the reasons

On the other hand, there's the new stage, the new Play-Play Pavilion, and the new cultural center that I haven't heard anything about. Maybe those will be good?

Don’t forget it was the CMs first day in the island too so they like CMs to experience things so they can be better prepared to answer questions. I am not sure about this weekend. If I find out more information I will provide an update

I think DCL did make it clear that there is a cultural experience as well. I have mobility issues now, so, for me, a pool addition would have been preferable, but once I go on the island once or twice, I will swim on the ship. I do want to learn about the culture of the island.

Sadly, staying on the ship to swim is what I do when we are docked at CC. I loved the snorkeling beach at CC many times. However I cannot access nor get out of the ocean now.
I’m honestly curious then how do you get into a pool on the boat though? There’s no easy entry? That’s one of the things my mother wishes Cruise ships had. I think what they should do is build some type of a walking pier that goes a few feet to thigh height with easy entry stairs going into the water that would make things easy for so many people. My mom can’t get in and out the ocean anymore either though castaway cay was still possible for her.

Aulani is the best Disney resort I’ve ever stayed at. There’s a difference too between low expectations and from what you know is possible Disney can put out!

You nailed it. Without this the DIS boards, and all other social media Disney posts, would disappear.
