Did the refillable mugs get smaller?

On my honeymoon (summer '03) we stayed at Coronado Springs and get one of those refillable mugs. I really like those mugs , so on a school trip ('05) I took the monorail over to the Contemporary and bought a refillabe mug. My parents just did the same ('07).

My first mug from Coronado Springs holds about 1.5 cans of pop. It also has a lid with a sliding mechanism that allows you to close it. Not sealed perfectly, but closed.

All of my Contemporary mugs (also bought later) hold exactly 1 can of pop and don't have that sliding mechanism. What gives??????????

Why is my Coronado Springs mug so much better? The distance between rooms and the refilling stations? Smaller so it's less expense to fill? What is it?

1) Smaller mugs equal less pop given away.
2) Less mechanical devices on tops equal lower manufacturing costs.
3) You should see the array of our mugs and how different they are.
4) Overall, these are known as WDW cost savings and profit enhancers.

One other difference is that the food court at CSR is not run by Disney so they sell a different refillable mug than the rest of the resorts. The rest of the resorts had mugs that hold the same amount as the one you got at CR. I have mugs from 10 different resorts and they are all the same as the one you described from CR (and one of them is from CR).

As of last spring the resorts are selling a more generic mug at all of the resorts except CSR (not run by Disney) and CR (there is a temporary food court right that is not selling refillable mugs). Since they are no longer resort specific I didn't get one on our last trip and can't tell you how much they hold, but from what I've seen the top may be more like your CSR mug with a sliding top.
