Did the love bugs ever show up in Sept?

We've travelled to WDW every Sept for 5 years...only one year, last year, did we encounter hundreds of millions of love bugs. We left Florida on Sept 24th this year and our little winged friends were starting to appear. Did they ever arrive in the droves of last year or was 2006 something of a fluke? Just wondering...

We returned on Saturday 9/29 and they were just beginning to come out in full force. They were mild to moderate when we arrived on 9/21, but overpowering when we left. I'm grateful they don't sting or bite!
