I've always had my "automatically subscribe to every thread you post on" turned off, because I knew I could go back and search on all my posts and pull them up. But now that option is gone? ARGH. I'm a little irritated because I'm not subscribed to ANY of those posts and now I can't find them because some were going back a ways!! AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

I had the same problem. Now when you do a search by user name you only get threads you started, no option to get everything you've posted to.

I went in and changed my subscriptions settings this morning so I'll be able to find threads I've posted to.
Definitely turned off the auto notifications though.

Hopefully having the search powered by an outside co. will ease some of the strain on the boards, that's a good thing, so I guess I'll adjust. ;)

If you click on a user name you still have the option to "find more posts by user name".

Go take a look at the Technical Support Board. Do a "search" :teeth: for "The new search system- problems, observations, issues" started by Webmaster Alex. If you have any comments...I think it's up to about 10 pages last time I looked.

Subscribing to a thread...it's a beautiful thing.

agnes!

yes - I think some settings changed when they put in the new search - I had to go back and reset some things! :sunny:

Sadly that's about all you can do now. The new search function is basically worthless and they might as well not have one.

Yeah - I think you could probably click on your own name from a thread and find your posts that way.

If you do have subscriptions turned on, it's easy to find a list.

I turned off email notifications, but I still subscribe to threads when I post or request to subscribe. To view the threads I'm watching or have posted to, I click on Quick Links at the top of the board and choose Subscribed Threads. It does not appear to have been affected by the new search.

Webmaster Alex recently said "Well we may have discovered some of the problems we are having. Search is a huge load on the boards and if a lot of people are using it to find their own posts..that is not a good thing! That is what subscribed threads are for."

If you never subscribed to threads before, you currently have no threads you are subscribed to until you first change your User Options so that you are subscribed to threads. In the far left corner, click on User CP, then in the left column, click on Edit Options.
Scroll down to "Default Thread Subscription Mode." In that little arrow box, pick one of the email options. This will automatically subscribe you to ALL threads you post to. CLICK ON SAVE CHANGES.

To view your subscribed threads, at the top of the screen, click Quick links, scroll --> Miscellaneous, then --> Subscribed threads.

Later, periodically, go and edit out your subscribed threads list in your Quick links/Miscellaneous/Subscribed threads and delete some older subscriptions.

To find some threads you want to be subscribed to, click on a recent post of yours. Click on your name, click the option to "find more posts by user name". It will bring up ALL your old posts. Click on the ones you want to subscribe to, and in "Thread Tools," at the top of the screen, click Subscribe to thread." This subscribes you without having to needlessly post to old threads. :)
