Well I've had pins in buckets and frames sitting against the wall and finally decided to put them together. Here is what I came up. The pics are not that great as I found it very difficult to get a decent picture with the glass not reflecting me taking the picture. I have some others if you are interested.

Let me know your thoughts.

That is an awesome collection of Haunted Mansion pins. I am so jealous.

Scott,
You were certainly buzy. I especially liked the idea of putting the Cast ID with the Cast uniform pin for the characters.

Those look incredible....

excuse me while I try to contain my jealousy :sad1:

Framing is a genius idea.. I wouldn't have thought of it. I don't have enough/have enough of one type yet to be able to do something like that. I figured I would get pin books.... anyone use these before? Is it a decent method while you're building your collection?

In the meantime, my lousy 54 pins and I are going to go sulk and think of ways to be as cool as that collection ;)

I especially love the Walt ones!

Don't sulk or feel bad Melmlantz! All of us at one time had only 54 pins. Scott started around 1999, so it's taken 8 years to get into his league.

Pin books are a great way to start. I still have some from 2000. problem is your collection soon outgrows it. Next comes pin bags (I swore I'd never buy one...currently I have 4 and am thinking of buying another)

I like the Mickey State pins...which ones are you missing?

In the US I am missing the hard ones. DE, WV, RI, HI and one of the ones from out west. I also don't have any of the ones from the Canadian provinces. Pinpics is down right now so I couldn't verify exactly, but the above is pretty close.

Do a google search for Ryker boxes. Those are what I mostly have my pins in. They come in all sizes. I have some that are small that just have 4 pins in them. Kind of like a 4 pin set or pins that went together. I don't have the link here, but can send you a link to get them if you send me an email reminder.

As was stated it took many years to get these pins, and also lots of money. It was truly a passion back then and one that after I got of PAA I have learned to temper my passion (meaning focus on a limited theme) and not a Pin theme where I had to have them all. :(

Remember to enjoy and have fun when you are doing this!!

They look great Scott!

Boy you are just posting away lately

Debbie

Hey I lost all of my post counts back several years ago when they were changing systems/servers, so I have to get caught up. Also, I am trying to get to the point where I can post attachments, which I can't right now at my current posting level.

Maybe we can have a contest. Where has Scott posted lately. Oh wait, that's too easy as you can search by name. It was a fun thought though.

Nice Pin Sets Scott. I enjoy looking at new framed pieces. I haven't done any in a while, but have lots of pins waiting for a new home in some framed set!

Nice to see the posts too!

Nice job on the framing!! Need to get doing some of that myself.

I definetely have WV and DE for trade. I have a number of others but have to find them. Most are the more common ones, VA, MA, CA.....but I should have AZ and Nebraska around here. Need to put some of these pins away!!

looks great Scott. I need to frame a few pins. I have some laying around but not in buckets...

If anyone has any "spare" time on their hands I have about 8 boxes (some very large) with tons of "little yellow/blue bags" in them that need to be sorted, framed, traded, etc.
Scott you did a GREAT job. They look very nice. Hope I am able to get mine in order one day.

At the risk of sounding like an idiot... do you use some special sort of frame?

Most of these frames were shadow boxes that I bought on sale a while back at Michaels. I actually prefer Ryker boxes, they are the ones that people use to display insects, but they work great for pins.

I purchase black poster type board, about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thick, and stick the pins right in. Fairly easy to do, pins are behind glass and they come in all sizes.

My wife and I got into pin trading heavily during our 2006 WDW trip and we now have 350+ pins. I too started framing our pins. I use the 12x12 scrapbooking frames that I came across and 12x12 corkboard pieces. They work great.

You can use pretty much any scrapbook, shadowbox, or deep frame for pins. You really can't use normal photo frames.
