I was just wondering how many other people out there went on something at WDW and thought it exceeded their expectations or was nothing like what you expected. I thought the new Journey into the Imagination was the most disappointing ride that I had the highest expectations of and The Living with the Land ride was so much more enjoyable than I thought it was going to be. How about anyone else? ::MickeyMo

I chickened out but my husband was disappointed with Mission Space. He said it was too much hype for such a short ride. My kids liked it. We did not have to wait in a long line. I believe he would have been even more disenchanted if he had waited in line for a long time before riding it.

I was really disappointed with Primeval Whirl. I guess I was expecting a combination of a wild mouse coaster and the Tilt-A-Whirl. What I got was bruises on my arms. Where was the "whirl" part of the ride? I keep trying to convince myself that we just had a malfunctioning car, but I'm scared to try it again in case that's REALLY what it's supposed to be like.

Without a doubt the attraction that far exceeded my expectations was Mickey's Philharmagic. I was not too excited to hear of another 3D movie coming into a park. The others are okay, but definitely not my favorites. Would much rather have had a "dark" attraction, or see something like Alice's Adventures in Wonderland like at DL. However, I was so set to not enjoy Mickey's Philharmagic that I was completely taken aback by it. It is one of my favorites in the MK! Love the smell of those tarts! :goodvibes It is something I'm sure to never miss and I had the pleasure of "introducing" it to my MIL, FIL, SIL, BIL, and DNiece and DNephew last July, which they all loved it too. And then to share with my mom in October. All enjoyed it immensely and I was so happy to be able to share with them!

i was blown away with Mickey's Philharmagic. I was also surprised by Mission: SPACE. it was not like anything I had done before.

Stitch's great Escape lived up to my expectations. I had read here how bad it is. I agreed.

Ted.

Even though i read on here about SGE, I expected more. It was disappointing and I my expectations were already low. This is the only thing I can think of that has not met my expectations at wdw.

I had great expectations for Stitch, but was disappointed in the quality of the attraction.

I did not expect much from Ellen's Universe of Energy, but ended up liking it.

I think test track was the biggest surprise for me. I wasn't expecting much, and we just had the best time. It is now the first ride I hit when we are in Epcot!!

Just last week - I was surprised at Splash Mountain. I'd never ridden it, and I just thought it was a log flume type ride. I didn't realize there was so much Disney magic inside!! I think it's now my favorite ride..

Exceeded Expectations:
Splash Mountain: had previously thought that it was just the drop alone!
What a surprise and treat we had on our first ride! It is our favorite now.
Disney Magic at its best! Still find new things and are amazed at the details.

Mission Space: it was so cool how they made you feel like you were going into space. I knew it would be cool but it exceeded my expectations

Did not exceed Expectations:
Journey into the Imagination: they could have done so much more! More examples of the different senses. The building is so big yet there is so much empty space on the ride.

I love taking people on Splash Mountain for the first time. They think you just go up a hill and then come down and get wet. I love to see their reactions after we get off the ride.

BTW There was no "whirl" in ours either. I think once it actually did turn.

Me, too! It was great!

Here's my Exceeded List:
Mickey's Philharmagic - outstanding! I thought it would be a typical 3-D adventure, but it has a certain magical quality.
Mission Space - I can't speak to it because I chickened out, but my husband said it exceeded his expectations by far. I've got to get the nerve to try it.
Wishes - I was so surprised! I thought, "oh well, another fireworks display" - boy was I wrong.
Splash Mountain - Wow! Much more than the big drop. it's my favorite!!!
RocknRoller Coaster - Great theme - great coaster - love the Aerosmith thing
Kilamanjaro Safari - It's so close (I suppose) to a real safari - I was blown away!

My Total Disappointment List:
Stitch - what a joke!
Journey Into Your Imagination - again, how ridiculous! Bring back the original!
The Enchanted Tiki Room Under New Management - bring back the original - this one is certainly not timeless given the music. Walt is turning over in his grave on this one.
Dinoland - C'mon now - what a copout - the "theme" is suppose to be a tacky roadside stop-off. It's a cheap, ugly horrible thing to put in Animal Kingdom

I think the only thing I was dissapointed by was Space Mountain. I love Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris and I presumed the one at WDW would be a similar ride. However it is totally different. I do like the ride now I know what to expect but I much prefer the one at DLP.

Things that exceded my expectations: Rock n rollercoaster, Tower of terror, Fantasmic, Illuminations.

I'm sure some of you will disagree, but I was disappointed with the Living Seas at Epcot. I guess after seeing the Aquarium in Baltimore, I thought it was pretty lame.

Long time lurker....short time regestered user...FIRST time poster.

I tend to research the rides and attractions before I go, so I expected Philharmagic to be great, and I new what to expect on most attractions. But here is my list.

EXCEEDED EXPECTATIONS:

MK:
First Time I rode IT’S A SMALL WORLD. I heard horror stories about the song, but ended up liking the attraction.
BUZZ LIGHTYEAR. When I went in 1999 I had no idea what kind of ride it was.
WISHES FIREWORKS….Not your typical fireworks show.
PETER PAN….Didn’t have much of an expectation but it’s a classic!!!!

I guess the moral with the Magic Kingdom, is not to be afraid to go on the “kids” attractions!!!

EP:
THE LAND boatride….Very surprised on how enjoyable it was.
JAPAN PAvilian....Great shops and neat displays.

MGM:
Rockin Rollercoaster…..Thought it would be a typical rollercoaster, but the take off alone made the rest of the ride better than expected.
FANTASMIC….I was very pleasantly surprised the first time I saw this show. I even had back row, standing room only.

AK:
LION KING show….Wasn’t expecting much and was entertained.
FLIGHT OF WONDER…I was expecting even less and found I enjoyed the show.
The TREE....First time I saw the center tree with all the animal "carvings" I couldn't take my eyes off it.

BIGGEST DISSAPOINTMENT:

MK:
The Pooh Ride…..It’s a nice ride that I enjoy, I just expected more the first time I rode it.
The Lion King show…when it used to be there. (Now replaced by Mickey’s Philharmagic.)...I actually fell asleep.

The original Tiki Room at DisneyLand. Never seeing the original attraction in DisneyWorld and reading how it was so much better, I was disappointed. Mostly because the animitronics just didn’t seem in sync to the sounds.

EP:
The newest rendition of Journy Into Imagination…..The ride I remember back in the 80’s-early 90’s was much better that what it is today. I just felt “lost” after riding the attraction the first (and probably only) time wondering why it was changed so dramatically..
Living Sea…I thought was a waste of time when I went last May.

MGM:
The latest rendition of the BACKLOT TOURS……This used to be an interesting tour….Now except for Catastrophy Canon, there is no point in the attraction.
SOUNDS DANGEROUS….A complete waste of space.

AK:
In 1999 I stayed in line for over an hour and a half to ride Dinosaur, and I didn’t believe it was worth the long wait. Last May I was ready to go again to see if my mind had changed, but it wasn’t open when I went. I guess it just didn’t live up to the hour and a half wait.

I haven't been immediately blown away by anything new in a long time, probably since Tower of Terror and Fantasmic. Dinosaur was the last thing that really surprised me, and at first I wasn't sure whether it was in a good way! But now it's a favorite. And being one of those who really loved Mr. Toad, I was also surprised to enjoy Winnie the Pooh.

What underwhelmed me beyond words was Wishes. I'd read only fabulous things about it and just didn't get what all the hype was about after I finally saw it. I'd rather have the trees back.

It doesn't whirl anymore?? We just did PW in October and it was whirling like crazy!!! My boys love that ride..my DH won't do it...I keep my eyes shut for most of it!! LOL!!

Philharmagic was fantastic!! Didn't know what to expect but loved it. Also Splash Mt. the first time that I rode was awesome. Was just thinking another water drop ride, but the detail and story line and music inside the mountain is just wonderful. "How do u do ......."
