Should I have waited?:confused3

I paid $740 return PER person for a flight in March break from Halifax to Orlando. That is the most I have paid for a flight to Orlando. That is almost $3000 for my family.:scared1:

I was getting nervous so I went ahead and booked it. But I was just wondering what you think?

We booked our tickets a couple of weeks ago & they are about $500.00 more than we have ever paid.

We booked Southwest (out of Buffalo) & it will be $527 per person (4 people) round trip. The most we have paid before was about $1,500 total.

Well it is March break.

We're paying 700 something for our Ottawa/Orlando tickets.

We were watching the airfare to Orlando go up and up as well:scared1: . I know when we were looking the best I could find was over $800.00 from Halifax so I would say you are paying a good price.

While I was doing my daily (hourly) searches I was curious how much Hawaii would be (thinking it would be 3 x more) and it came up at $550.00:banana: ! It wasn't that we had planned on going I was just bored and playing around on the computer. Anyways, changed our plans, and are going to Hawaii in April instead:) . I know that was one of those quirky, act now, never to find again airfares so we grabbed it while we could.:goodvibes

Do not worry too much about it. The price could just get higher! Or flights could get sold out. I paid 3900 for 4 out of TO for last March break and by Xmas the flight was sold out. This was on WJ. Go and have fun!

I feel your pain!:sad1:

We're going next Christmas, so I've been very interested in how this years prices have been shaping up.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason so far. From Alberta prices over the holidays have been high for many weeks now. Like $1100 pp high!:scared1:

Yet this morning decent flights leaving Dec 25 and returning Jan 1 were only $600 pp. Go figger.:confused3

Mid Jan fares can be had for $550 ppor so but looking as far out as I can into 2009 the prices are very high. Who knows how things will shape up!

End of March was $550 all in with Air Canada direct to Orlando during the sale they had a few weeks ago. Used some family Avion points so it was only like $350 for 3 of us (yay), but still $550 per was still a great deal.

Back in Oct 2004 we flew down with AC for $321 all in via Toronto. Those were the days.

It was just such a relief when I finally booked it, but then it was a little upsetting to pay that much.

I was expecting to pay more during March break. I think we lucked out this past March. We were able to get flights for about $550/person. I guess I was expecting only a small increase. I was soooo wrong.

Thanks everyone. Sadly, I do feel better about not being the only one who paid a lot for their flight.

Well, I'm going to try to move on and not check the fares anymore. Well, at least I'll try to not check more than once a day.:sad2:

I think you did well for March Break. Sure you may find something later that is a little less, but I would rather have the piece of mind.

Don't beat yourself up. Airfare is all over the place. When we flew down with Air Transat in 06 we were pretty peeved that they were selling last minute seats at $29 each.. fun fun.

OUCH!!! I know now why we are not going this spring break!!!:scared1:
The flights this year for a family of four from TO are more than I paid for my entire vacation package last spring break!
The hockey tourny that DD is in this spring break is not looking like such a bad deal now!:rotfl: :rotfl:

It's always expensive to fly from the Maritimes, or even Maine for that matter. Heck even here in Boston, for peak times (February or April break here) you're looking at us$500 each minimum, usually more like us$600-us$700 and up.

I hope you have a great time.:goodvibes

We are flying halifax to tampa April 30 and taking the direct return flight Orlando to Halifax on May 10 and the cost was 565.90 each (taxes included). Webooked these tickets on November 4.

I'd be interested in knowing when and what airline you searched for your hawaii prices....have been wanting to go back to hawaii since our 1st trip 6 years ago.....

I am anxiously waiting until the new year or Feb time frame to look at booking our flights from Edmonton to Orlando. I am hoping that with the fall of gas prices, and the economy perhaps there will be some better deals around that time frame. We are looking at flying to Orlando in early Sept. so we still have a bit of time to wait for better prices. Right now good flights are around $600.00 pp flying AirCanada, and my husband wants to stick with a Canadian Carrier this time. We flew United last time and where not too impressed (long flight, no entertainment system of anykind... not even a radio  ) AirCanada it is this time, I think... Here's hoping for a decent price :flower3:

Hey Disneyrookie2007, we bought our tickets early October and are flying United airlines;) . I found the tickets on United website but within hours the price had gone up $300.00 each so quickly went to expedia where they still posted the cheaper price:goodvibes . Some of the flights codeshare with AC and when I went to AC's site, the prices were over $1000.00.

We weren't planning this trip, we were sopposed to be going to Florida but the flights were so much cheaper. I also got a car rental for $84.00 for the week and am about to get a 3 * on hotwire for $73.00/night (includes breakfast, by the beach). :cool1: We are going the last week of April!

Good luck with your search. I hope you are able to find a good deal so you can go back soon!:)

we are paying 700 per person for April 09 which I thought was a really good deal , we couldn't get anything less Then $1200 to fly from NEwfoundland. We are driving (ferry) to NS then flying from Halifax, Luckily I am originall from NS and have a place to stay and Leave our car.

Thanks again. I will try not to think about it too much. It does seem that the price I paid is fine. I guess I am envious of some of the posts in the transportation board where the prices are so much lower. I do think we are going to try to drive to Boston and fly from there. I checked recently for the prices and we would have saved $2000 in airfare if we fly from Boston. I'm not comfortable with that long drive in March, but we are definitely looking into it for our August trip. Even with the hotels, meals and parking, we would still be saving money. And it would be nice to visit Boston. We have never been there.

Boston is a lot cheaper airfare, but parking the car is PRICY $$$$ (if we had room in the driveway I'd offer you some; we're right on the subway). Navigating to Logan is also a bit complicated. I would say far better to fly out of Portland, Maine or Manchester, New Hampshire; the parking is cheap and easy, the drive is shorter and you can still get non-stop flights at decent prices (Southwest does the MHT-MCO route, while JetBlue and AirTran do the PWM-MCO, and those are just the non-stops).

Of course, if you're planning to do some Boston tourism, then BOS would make some sense. And the city would love to have more tourists and there's plenty to see and do here (I'd recommend the Duck Tour first, plus the Science Museum and the Aquarium, among many other attractions). When in Boston, I'd recommend not driving, since the streets are confusing even for those of us living here; it is far easier to get around using public transit and your feet.

But you'll save two hours minimum flying from PWM, and maybe an hour of the drive flying from MHT. Plus the parking and hotels are cheaper.
