Did I overpay?

So... I'm hoping this is just the usual second guessing after pulling the trigger on a big ticket item... but I thought best to ask all of you experts here to help me reassure myself (or at least know the truth).

We recently made an offer on a BLT contract that was accepted after some quick scanning of things, but it was a bit spur of the moment and focussed on just getting something that would work for a March 2022 trip we're hoping to make.

For our 75 point, August use year contract with 150 points coming on in 2021, we offered $169 per point. We got a hard refusal trying to negotiate a bit harder on another similar contract... so talked ourselves into just making an offer near full asking.

Any reactions to this? Lol... I only thought to check the ROFR thread on here now a few days afterwards and am feeling a bit sheepish.

Thanks!

Of course you should try to buy for as cheap as possible, but even if you overpaid by $20/point ... Over 40 years not a big deal especially if you love the location. If it really bothers you, you can rescind the deal within days of signing contract.

We just sent our BLT contract to ROFR. Ours is a 100pt, Dec Uy contract that was listed at $162/pt and we were able to negotiate it down to $155. We thought about getting it down to $153 but didn't feel like it was worth losing it over $200.

I think in the end, the price you pay is what you're comfortable with. I was originally in the market for a 75-80 pt contract and was prepared to pay around $155/pt for it.

Heck, time is money. Perhaps you could have gotten it lower, but a lower price contract also has the chance of being taken. If this passes, you will have secured the contract and you done with searching the sites for the perfect contract, negotiating, signings, etc. etc.

the price you pay is what you're comfortable with.

THIS all day long a good deal is what you perceive to be a good deal not what others tell you are good deals . Every deal is different so comparisons will never be the same and you will beat yourself up till you die if you try to base your deal on comparisons.

Wallow in the fact you own a piece of DVC lots of others can't. Welcome to the club!!!

If a bought ten years ago if I bought 5 years ago if I bought yesterday it does not matter Its the feeling of ownership in DVC
paying a little more now to get what you want is always worth it. Hope it goes through Congrats:welcome:home

DVC Resale Market’s estimate range is $143 to $172 ($143 is what they’d buy it from someone to flip, $172 is the very top end of what you could ever get for it as a seller. If they’re putting $172 I’d suggest $165-$168 is probably about right.

Atleast you have a better chance passing ROFR. Thats how I am looking at my situation which is close to yours.

You are getting a year's worth of Member Fees prepaid w the banked points. I always consider that when making an early in the year offer. The banked points at BLT are easily worth $20 a point, which is part of my equation when valuing a small contract. You might get a stripped one for a few dollars less, but that wouldn't accomplish your 3/22 travel goals.

I paid a little more than I wanted to for a small VGF contract, in the end it had extra points like yours and was the exact amount we wanted. So I just bought it, rather be happy then frustrated looking for the perfect one. In the end a few dollars more, like someone said over 40 years, enjoy it.

Disney has been taking a lot of BLT lately, the contract below was taken very quickly. Yes, lower price, but twice the size of your contract.

TXN4DISNEY---$142-$24340-160-BLT-Feb-0/19, 0/20, 106/21, 160/22- sent 12/30 Taken 1/7

Your price might be golden for it not to be taken.

Thanks for all the responses everyone! Really appreciate it.

I think we'll still go ahead, as the 11 month window for that March 2022 trip is coming up really quick by the time we'd actually be able to book anything. It was a few of the other smallish contracts that passed in the ROFR thread at $155 or so that gave me pause. But like many of you have said... it's a difference of under $2k total which roughly what we'd end up paying in hotel costs if we didn't have the contract in any case. At least now we're travelling on points and staying where we want.

Thanks again! These boards have been really helpful to us as we go through it. Lol... Now I'm off to find another thread to vent about the removal of magical express. Pretty surprised by that one!
