Yesterday I called to make a payment on my trip to AKL Sept. 1. I was told by the Cm (a very nice gentleman) that He saw the note in my reservation about my son's autism. He felt I needed to move. He put me on hold and transfered me over to Guest relations. I spoke to a woman that gave me two choices. SSR one bedroom villa or BC standard room. I picked the BC. The CM goes to put in the change and she says "Oh my mistake" I can't move you YET.:scared1: The cut off date is Sept 1 you are coming in the second. She then told me that if they started moving people for the 2nd they would be sure to call.:sad1:
I realized today I never made that payment. I call back to do so. The CM tells me there is something strange with my reservation. It is listed as in active:mad:  . I tell him the problem and what happened. He tells me to hold. He comes back with a woman handling AKL problems and says yes you need to move. She says I can stay and wait and see if they call a week before the trip or move now. She tells me to move to WL . I say no. Not my 1,2, or third choice. She askes where I would like to go. So BC it is. The room is $100 dollars more, but, I get it for the same price. I am happy now that I now where I am going. But I have to tell my son and DH no animals.:scared: :scared: :scared:

Yes, you made the right choice! :thumbsup2

Your family can still go visit AKL during your BC stay; there are many public areas to view animals.

Have a wonderful vacation! :)

RachelTori Yes you made the right choice! :thumbsup2

Thanks, I think I did too. Today was the first day in weeks that I am not worried about were we are goining to stay. :yay: BC here I coming:woohoo: I felt like a refugee before.

You made the right choice. DS is not autistic but he has some special needs so coming from that angle I definately think you went the right route. Funny thing I did not relize how worried I was about being at AKL till I was able to switch and it felt like a huge wieght was lifted off of my shoulders after it was done. We switched from AKL to BC because of being lucky enough to get a pin code. You will love being in walking distance to parks. Enjoy your trip. :)

I see you're goining before we do. Please post when you get back. DH and DS love the food courts for breakfast. They must have their Mickey waffles with bacn and eggs. I am worried becase I don't see one for BC. Doing Cape May and room service can be pricey. If I feed DH donuts at 9:00, he'll want lunch at 9:30.

You will love BC! We have stayed in BWI, CR, POFQ, Pop, and ASM and out of every place, we love Beach Club the Best. My son has some sensory issues so I know where your coming from. The BC is great, especially if you like Epcot like we do.

According to a lot of posts about the AKL, most of the animals are not going to be on exhibit due to the construction of the Vacation club villas. If you had stayed, chances are you wouldn't have seen that many animals.

I am not sure how great the foodcourt is there. We are not big food court people. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1116 that is the BC/ YC thread check it out. :) You could always hop over to the Dolphin and eat at Picabu grill. That is where we ate a lot when we were there last time. :)

There is no food court at the BC. There is the BC Marketplace which is very limited. My only gripe with the BW area is the lack of CS choices. But it hasn't bothered us that much because we stayed at the BC last September and again this past June.

You'll love it. Great choice! :thumbsup2

I was very worried about the food issue. DH does not think the sand bottom pool is a good idea for my son. I called guest services, and explained. The wonderfu CM put me back at the lodge:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: She said I shoud not have to move, if so they should have offered me 40% back.
Now I am truly happy.I think I left my heart at AKL last year when we visited Jikos last year. If Disney wants to move me, let them call me.:snooty: They are going to have to offer me a lot more to make up for my famlies disappointment. I am going to trust Disney when they say the construction will be done inside. If the resort gets to noisy outside then we will have to do the parks earlier and enjoy the resort at night. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. Please send a little pixiedust our way.pixiedust:Here's to wishing everyone a magical vacation wherever we stay.:coffee:
AKL here we come :simba: :simba: :simba: :simba:

Tinkerbell 728,

pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: for a magical vacation!

From everything I've seen, construction should not be an issue for anyone checking in September 1st or after so I'm sure you'll be fine. :yay: :yay: :yay:

WL is awesome, I would have taken that over the BC any day

We've stayed at the Y&B club a few times and though its a really nice resort, we prefer the WL. SAB tends to get really crowded and the chair issue there is a big problem. Being close to EPCOT is a big plus but we're MK fans and prefer the location of the Lodge in relation with the boats to CR, FW and MK. Just seems more Disney to us to be a boat ride from the MK. either resort is grand but saving a few bucks, being close to the MK would tilt my hand. Rooms sizes are comparable.
