19 days until the hubs and I set sail on the Fantasy. We've done Palo dinner and brunch on the Wonder and Magic, but this cruise will be our first Remy experience. I've booked dinner on Valentine's Day and the dessert experience on another sea day. SO... my question is... Did I make a mistake in making the dinner reservation having a "meat and potatoes" husband? He will eat some veggies...but he's not adventurous AT ALL when it comes to food. I on the other hand want interesting food. The more interesting, the better. I've done some Remy research and it looks like a lot of my kind of food but not his. o_O

Hard for anyone to say, not knowing your husband like you do, but Remy is not a "meat & potatoes" experience.

Is he the type who will grumble if there's nothing in his comfort zone? Will he absolutely not try something new? If so, then you might be throwing your money away.

We're on the same cruise! So ready to go!

Nope Remy is not meat and potatos, but the American side of the menu is less adventurous. Also let your server know your likes and dislikes. They will do their best to make sure you both enjoy.

In our opinion it is well worth trying!!

If it helps my husband is a TN meat and potatoes kind of guy and he had a blast at Remy. I showed him menus ahead of time and we talked it over. They also had a Remy preview event night one so he could get his feet wet so to speak. I don't know if they still do that but it was fun.

I recommend trying Remy on a less special occasion, in case he doesn't like it. The food there is somewhat fru-fru, not meat & potatoes at all. I'd do Palo dinner for Valentine's Day, instead.

I guess I should clarify "meat and potatoes" haha He eats seafood, chicken, red meat. As long as he can get those without anything too crazy I think he will be ok. A la carte might be his best bet.

The chefs are more then okay with simplifying dishes. He can always ask that something not be included.

You know, it's nice to get out of your zone of comfort sometimes. Before Remy, I thought I was closer from "meat and potato" than anything else but I was really curious and tried it... And I fell in love!

I think he'll be fine. They have AMAZING beef (Wagyu and/or Kobe)... Like the best beef you'll ever have. Also, if you see the word "Poularde"... It's chicken. ;)

Thanks everyone!

Look at it THIS way. If you convinced him to go to some expensive fancy restaurant on land and spend a bunch of money, and he didn't like it, he might be pretty disappointed.

If he goes to this fancy expensive restaurant and doesn't like it, he can still get plenty of room service or Cabanas if it is still open or the Quick Service food by the pool deck at no additional charge.

So from my perspective, this is the BEST time for you and your husband to go to a restaurant like this. At least he can enjoy the atmosphere and your enjoyment. Heck, if he looks at the menu and really doesn't like it, he can hit a different place beforehand so he's not hungry during dinner!

OK, that sounded silly, but you get my point. You have more to gain and less to lose by doing it this way, and who know? He might like it!

Have fun!
