Did I get a good deal on my car rental?

Booked car rental on priceline, for 7/12 through 7/17. Got a midsize from Hertz for $170.76. Seemed like a good deal to me, but I don't rent cars frequently. Just wondered what everyone else thought.

Seems high since I just rented a mid-size for 8 days and paid a total of $84 with Alamo. I found my rate just 10 days before my trip.

Your price is too high for me. I just paid $197. total for a 13 day full-size rental. I was able to pick an SUV of the lot (Hyundai Santa Fe).

Holy mackeral, how did you do that deal? I just looked at the Alamo web site, and the "rack rate" (so to speak) is $333 for an economy car for 9 days.

Wow that is a fantastic price!!!! How did you do it? I am looking for 12 days MCO to MCO July 19-30 8am pick up 12pm drop off...I have it with hotwire thru Dollar for $280.00. I think that is a good price but would love to get it down and I would WAY rather go thru Alamo.

Sounds about right for Hertz where you'll generally pay a little bit more. As other posters have suggested, you may be able to find a lower price by shopping around with other companies.

Also sounds high to me. We almost rented a car when we were there 10 days ago but didn't. The rate we had was $15-$19 per day depending on the size. I know for our five days it would have be around $100 with all of the fees.

The rates for summer are high. For my dates (mid to late June) the coupons codes are not working for Alamo and National. I even checked out Hotwire today and the rates are high.

My rate with National for 7 days (Sat to Sat) one way rental drop off at MCO is $145.00. I got that a couple of weeks ago. Now it is much higher well over $200 and the coupon codes aren't working. The rates from MCO (pick up and drop off) were much higher when I got my rate and are now even higher.

I would watch for last minute deals. I have been watching my rates using

http://www.carrentalsavers.com/florida-car-rental.html

Also check out their last minute deals. It would be a separate search.

I always seem to get the best prices by using Dollar when I rent at MCO. It's not so true in other locations but they seem more than competitive at that airport location.

Give them a look and make sure you click to check their "city deals" on their site. You might be pleasantly surprised.

And no, I don't work for them or am invested with them :)
