Let me begin by saying we adopted an senior white miniature eskimo dog 3 years ago. She had been beaten, battered & broken. Slowly thru the last 3 years she deteriorated; she couldn't hear, see, her back had been damaged when she was abandoned at the shelter by being thrown over the fence. She became incontinent, and was never fully housebroke - we put her out on a schedule. One of my other dogs only tolerated her.
She never tried to bond with us despite our attempts to love her. She preferred being left alone, so as much as we tried to love her all we were able to give her was food & shelter. She hated being groomed & trimming toenails was considered evil!
Today she "got her wings" because I felt her quality of life was miserable. So given all the health issues & history she had, why do I feel like a terrible person tonight? It's so hard to let them go!
