Did DVC basically just announce they will be open by September?

The fact that Disney and Universal both are on the task force to reopen Florida gives me home that they both will reopen sooner rather than later. The articles floating around about them closing until 2021 just seem so far fetched. I think Disney has a slight upper hand because they have been doing fastpasses and know how to do virtual queues and mobile food ordering. The question really becomes how do you incorporate all of that and stopping massive crowds. I have faith that they are figuring this out.

Phased openings. 50% capacity to start. Mayor indicated June opening more likely than May.

From portions of it there was a comment that this is fully up in the air based on the Governor allowing counties to make their own decisions instead of extending statewide mandates.

DeSantis to share information tomorrow about the reopening. I think we will get a better idea, but from what he said, I am feeling better we will see at least DVC resorts begin to open in June.

Desantis has already said that central Florida is doing great and will open before south Florida.

The 50% capacity with 6 feet spacing in line is a start. I wonder how they will address rope drop and transportation. Will rides be at 50% capacity? So while the park might be at 50% will they alternate cars in certain attractions? For example, would we have Avatar with a space in between people, Tower of Terror with seats in between people, etc.?

(This is more for discussion. I doubt anyone knows for sure at this point.)

Actually, I think because nothing was mentioned for banked 2018 Aug UY points that this bodes well for the June 1st opening.

Governor said Disney was ahead of the curve, so the decision coming out has to mean they know the end date

I agree to give that 6 month for April UY, certainly enhances the notion that a summer opening...at least for the DVC resorts...is pretty certain.
Yes, totally free. I think they will open June 1

Yes, totally agree. I think they will open June 1. DS and reaorts. Mid-June will be very low #s admitted (25%?), for two weeks, then gradually moving to the 50% in July staying at 50% for summer.

At what point is it profitable for Disney to reopen with social distancing requirements and capacity? Is it profitable at 50%?

JMHO, I’m thinking parks not until mid July, well after 4th of July weekend, at the earliest.

Do think the resorts will open in June, resort only stays

If it wasn’t profitable at 50%, they probably wouldn’t stay in business. I’m sure their break even point is lower than 50% capacity.
Again, just my thought, but it’s not about ‘profitablity’ at this point. I’m sure they’ve already accepted they are going to have to operate the parks at a loss. It’s about preserving the parks’ brand.

They need to have a highly controlled, quiet opening & hope that any contract tracing doesn’t point back to them. Only then will roll out their publicity machine to entice people back

Between CMs/families, DVC members & local APH, they will have enough of a fervent fan base willing to comprise the first wave of visitors.

As I have said before, I don't think profits will be the primary motive. If they can reopen (even at a loss) and build customer confidence, that pays off in the long run. If they reopen, with profits in mind, and botch it, they could lose customer confidence for years to come. Disney tries to set itself apart with its experience, cleanliness and customer service. They would rather a six flags or other theme park botch it, then be able to say, that's why you should come to Disney!!!

Plus supply and demand. If they successfully open and say only allow 25% room capacity and onsite only get access, well the rooms will be packed and people will be begging for more. Then they can slowly increase or however they want to do it. But get people excited and anxious to get there, those are the people that will spend more money, do more experiences, because they will have this pent up excitement to go.

Spoke with a csst member yesterday at DVC and they cited a June 1st opening. Hope that's truest least the end is near.

No way WDW opens this summer... in perspective if MLB can open a single ballpark, which typically is 40,000 or more people, until the very least August 1, there's NO way WDW will take the chance of 1 PERSON getting ill, at the very worst pass away. I do think, maybe September could be a possibility.
Strong rumors of WDW being opened up June 01, 2020. Possibly before that for very limited amounts to train CM’s.
