...at least two thirds of pregnant women suffer from morning sickness. Are — or were — you one of them?

How bad did you have it? Was it tolerable or pretty debilitating?

Yes x 4.

I have it now--my last preganncy was the worst..or so I thought.

This pregancny--I can't seem to get up out of bed without having an issue. I was on meds, but have opted to stop due to a bad issue over the weekend that is not dis-board appropriate to share.:rotfl:

Right now--I take a heartburn medication to help relax my gag reflex a little.

But if I could figure out how to get rid of phantom smells--I'd be doing so much better! The smells are the worst. We have A/C on AND windows open b/c it is too hot without A/C but too smelly for me to keep windows closed. :sad2:

I had it for the first 3 months, but I only actually got sick 2 or 3 times. Dizziness was my major problem. There were a few times that I didn't feel safe driving to work because I was so dizzy.

From about weeks 8-12, I threw up once a day. I would spend the morning feeling queasy, on the verge of throwing up. By late morning, I usually threw up, then was ready for lunch! Once I got the vomit out of the way, I did not feel too bad the rest of the day!

Nope, no morning sickness with either baby. I would feel queasy if I waited too long to eat, but that was at any time of the day. I count myself most fortunate!

i threw up about 4 times a day until 17 weeks!

Nope. I was sick in the morning exactly once. I took my prenatal vitamin without eating and tossed my cookies on the way to my car. I always had something to eat after that.

OTOH, I was put in bedrest for months so a little bit of puking would have been better :cutie:.

A little nausea with #1 which stopped when I ate a light snack. A little more nausea with #2 and I vomited once. I had it pretty easy in that department.

Yes.

Mine was bad, all day every day for the better part of the pregnancy. If I ate, I got sick. Didn't stop me from doing things I needed to though, never missed a day of work, only time out was for regular doctors appointments. If I went ahead and drank something right away in the morning so I'd go ahead and be sick (sorry, gross) then it wasn't so bad all day but pretty much nauseated the entire time.

None at all with either of my boys. My mom didn't have it with me, either. I did notice that prenatal vitamins made me a little woozy, so I just started taking them before bed.

I had awful morning sickness, with all three of my pregnancies. Waaaay back in '73, my first pregnancy, they finally put me on Compasine for the severe nausau, but it turns out that I'm severely allergic to it!! So, had to tough it out. I found that the only drink I could stomach was Hawaian Punch....yep, hard to believe.
I found that for some strange reason, I loved tuna sandwiches. And potato chips...ate that stuff almost every day. They made the nausua stop for an hour or two but that was it. I had morning sickness up until my 7th month..then the heartburn started. It's a wonder I had a second, and then a third child.
My ob/gyn told me that the excessive amounts of hormones is what causes the morning sickness, and that it usually means a very healthy pregnancy. Yeah, right.....once you can find something you can eat. I never vomited, not once. But I sure wished I could have. It was awful...almost incapacitating for me. I always felt like I was going to 'lose it' at any moment.

3 out of 4. Twice was so bad I was hospitalized for days for dehydration. My second baby I never even felt naseous!

Yes but mine was afternoon sickness. Like clockwork 2pm would hit and BINGO!!

I had morning sickness with my first ds. It really only lasted for a few weeks and as long as I had something a little snack, I felt better.

For my second ds, I had all day long sickness. It started before I was even late on my period. I knew I was pregnant before I could take a pregnancy test. I felt horrible for the entire pregnancy. I'd say that it was one of the most challengintimes in my life. I even ended up in the hospital at 5 months because my vomiting triggered pre-term labor. It was hard to go to work every day feeling so sick, then come home to take care of a 2 year old. Thank God my dh was so supportive.

Luckily, I was able to carry the baby to full term and he weighed just shy of 9 lbs! I was so happy when he was in my arms, but I will never forget the long road to delivery.

Needless to say, I decided not to have any more children.

Not me, at most I felt a bit icky. I remember bringing Saltines and water with me everywhere, they seemed to help.

With my first one, I was sick all day for about five months and then it quit.

With my second one, I was sick all day and night for the entire pregnancy. I got sick on the way to the hospital to have her, had to stop the car and get sick on the side of the road. Ended up in the hospital twice for dehydration for a few days each. That was my last baby, wasn't doing that again!

No morning sickness for me with any of my 4 pregnancies.

I had all day sickness with my oldest DS for 4 months. In fact, I thought I had the flu, not pregnancy! ;) I didn't have it with my dd. I did have it with another pregnancy that I later miscarried.

I threw up about 6 times (or more) a day and felt sick around the clock for about 16 weeks with my first pregnancy and 18 weeks with my second. Nothing helped...I tried every possible drug they will give pregnant woman (including Zofran) and nothing helped. I tried every trick in the book. I had to take a leave of absence from work for two months with my first one (not easy since I was a first grade teacher!). I was not working with my second, so I just stayed in bed all day. Thank God my husband had a flexible work schedule, so he was able to help me take care of our two year old.

I somehow managed to stay out of the hospital, but just barely. There probably were times when I should have gone in for IV treatments.

It was HORRIBLE. Well worth it of course, but it really makes me scared to get pregnant again!

With my DS13 I was sick all day every day until I delivered. Before I figured out I was pregnant I swore I had the flu! Nothing helped. If I ate or drank anything, I got sick. Horrible horrible pregnancy.
Now I am pregnant with DD. I am 8 months along. Occasionally I get a little nauseous but have yet to be sick. Mostly when I haven't eaten in a while. My sister had all of my morning sickness for me! She is not pregnant but for the first 5 months of my pregnancy she got sick at least twice a day. There is nothing wrong with her. :rotfl: I thought it was awful nice of her to do the morning sickness for me. Now if I could only get someone to do the pain during birth for me I will have it made!
