Did Disney raise the hotel prices again?

I was looking some more and I don't know if the seasons changed.

I'm 100% sure they did, as outlined in my post above.

The "new" seasons now match the seasons of the Value resorts, which makes me wonder if Value and Moderate hotels were always supposed to follow the same date spans, but perhaps someone goofed when the rates were released last summer.

Okay, here's what I've figured out. I've only checked Coronado Springs so far (and that page is now fixed on my site) but presumably this applies to all Moderates. If I find this applies to any other resort categories I'll post.

Prices within a "season" did not change. So Summer season prices are still the same, for example. What has changed is the DATES of the seasons, and those changes are substantial:

Summer season was previously 5/31 - 7/13, now 5/31 - 8/3
Value 2 season was previously 7/14 - 8/17, now 8/4 - 9/13
Value 1 season in late summer/early fall was eliminated
Regular 2 season in fall was eliminated
Fall season was previously 10/20 - 11/25, now 9/14 - 10/10, 10/14 - 11/22
Thanksgiving season was previously 11/26-11/29, now 11/23-11/29

The net result is that within the time period 7/14/13-11/23/13, many room rates went up because dates were moved into a higher-priced season. If you have a booking within that period and make changes to your reservation, the price may go up.

A few dates went down in price. 9/27-10/10 and 10/14-10/19 moved from Regular 2 season to Fall season, so the rates are slightly lower now for those dates. If you're booked within one of those time spans, it might be worthwhile to rebook your stay and get the lower rate.

Thank you so much for this info!

Thanks Mary !!! It explains a lot. Have a happy New Year !! and thanks again for taking the time to check out. :)

It appears that Disney has shifted the season dates for the late summer Value 2 season at the Moderates, and the dates changed by a LOT. The Value 1 season in the fall is gone, too. There may be other changes as well.

One of my readers reported this to me a few days ago. I haven't had a chance to fully research the changes and fix the info on my site yet, because I've been hosting holiday visitors. My guests just left, so this is my project for today!

As far as I know, so far, this only affects Moderates and only for the summer/fall seasons. But as I say, I haven't had a chance yet to dig in and figure it all out.

I was poking thru the new site's "price by date" option, and noticed Dec 2013's value season at the Deluxes didn't drop back down to this Jan's -- it looks like there's a price increase built in around the end of September.

But the 1 and 2 BRs stayed the same from this value season to the next...

Demand-sensitive pricing?

Well, they did invest a lot of money in Fantasyland. Now is time to recover their money ... and it will come out from our pocket.:crazy2:

I was looking some more and I don't know if the seasons changed. The biggest change to the website is that it shows the price including taxes, whereas before it didn't. This could be partly to blame for a lot fo the confusion.

I was only looking at POFQ.

The per night rates that come up on the search page are before tax. The amount in the cart is after tax.

For 9/14 to 9/22 at CSR standard view it shows $181 for 5 nights plus $196 for 3 nights. Total $1,493. Go into the cart, the tax is added and it's $1679, which includes 12.5% tax.

The average nightly rate that shows in the search is including taxes. I did a search for POFQ for 9/14 - 9/21 and it was an average of 230/night, which is the same price I had before after tax was included.

I was looking at the individual night rates when you click "view price per night", those are before tax.
