Did anyone write their own wedding vows?

My DF and I are considering writing our own wedding vows. I have checked out Amazon and see they have a few books on sample wedding vows. I was wondering if anyone used a wedding vow book to customize their ceremony?

I wrote our vows. I think the book I read was like "Writing Vows for Idiots" or Dummies or something. It was decent. It gave me some ideas. I actually got more ideas from the Internet (I googled "wedding vows", "funny vows", "wedding quotes", things like that). I actually *blushes* used the research as a crutch; it wasn't until I stopped researching and actually started writing that I got the vows where I wanted.

My vows are somewhere in my trip report (link is below in my siggy); I'm at work so I can't stay on here for long enough to pull them up. Shhh! *winks* Let me know if you need any more help/guidance/whatever.

My DH & I wrote our vows. Our pastor did his usual sermon and the usual vows, in which we each said I DO, but then afterwards, we each said the vows we'd written to each other. It was extremely special and moving and there wasn't a dry eye in the place. But of course, if that wasn't hard enough, then I sang to my DH as well.

We didn't write from scratch. We modified the vow from the templates provided by our rev. Jack Day.
