Did anyone use "Aqua Net" back in the day?

My friends all used Aquanet, but I used Paul-Mitchell -- super-freeze -- and then I'd take the blow-dryer to it so it wouldn't move. My hair was so big. I blame "A Room with a View" and Helena Bonham Carter for that hairstyle. I'm pretty sure that's where it started. :) I have fine hair that wasn't meant to stand two feet off my head.

I used AquaNet until I got a job. Then, I was a Paul Mitchell girl all of the way. I probably put a small hole in the ozone with the amount of Paul Mitchell I used. :scared1:

Jersey Girl Here..... Aqua Net was a must :lmao::lmao:

I was a rocker chick and had cropped hair.

Ergo, yes, I was an Aqua Net girl. Still am! I lost the rocker chick hair and now have thinning bangs that I like to keep straight, so Aqua Net keeps them in place.

I STILL have a can:scared1:

I was cleaning out a cabinet and there is was....THE BLUE CAN!

I didn't throw it out for some reason.

Nothing like a can of hairspray to bring back big memories!

....guilty-as-charged......hey, :confused3 I'm from New Jersey - it was a LAW back-in-the-day...

...heavy emphasis on the 'BIG'.....;)

I keep a can of Aqua Net in the laundry room for getting out ink stains.
Yeah, yeah, a likely story... ;)

I forgot how well it works at that... and at stopping runs in pantyhose. Thank heaven I don't have to wear them anymore.

Oh yes!! I had a friend in HS whose bangs were 6 inches tall! It looked ridiculous, even back then when it was "cool"!

Only 3 inches? :p I had a friend in HS who literally took 3 hours every morning just to do her hair...it stood 7 inches up AND around. We used to delight in throwing pens at her head, just to watch them bounce off.

It's funny how she now has the straightest, flattest hair I've ever seen...

Aquanet was big, but STIFF STUFF was for the pro's! Remember the rumor that went around warning girls that Stiff Stuff would make your hair fall out?

I'm from Brooklyn, NY - enough said! :lmao: I always had plenty of Aquanet and Stiff Stuff in my house.

I never rocked the seriously big hair but I did have fluffy bangs that required insane amounts of hairspray to maintain the height of the look. I didn't used AquaNet though. My mom is a hairdresser and her salon is at her house, so I used Sebastian but layered it. First was the aerosol extra hold spray, then fortified with the pump bottle of really stiff hold that she used on the old lady once a week hair. LOL

:lmao: That was the best spent 99 cents. I used the White can with pink lettering. Then to make it stiffer...would take the blow dryer to stiffen it even more. I remember when it would rain, you would first feel the beads of water dripping through the stiff peaks...then it was down hill after that...:lmao: I look back at pics and think "what were we thinking" lucky we still have any hair left :rotfl2:

I did, but only for performances; otherwise I didn't like stiff hair (I think I'm a tad older than most of the folks who are posting on this thread.) My hair doesn't hold a curl well, so we'd hit the rollers with it after the hair dried, then brush it out before putting it up for performances.

However, since we're on the subject of spray -- how many of you used the toilet-paper smoothing technique to avoid dents? ;)

oh yeah...I did. Actually we have a can in the bathroom...DD's use it for "dance recital hair" lol nothing else holds as well as good old Aqua Net!

Not only did I use Aqua Net, I was a fan of Dippity Do and Minipoo!.

pinnie

These are the staples of our dance studio's hair lady. She can take any head of hair and whip it into a bun with zero strays with these two products. She always has a nice haze in her area after about the tenth girl getting her hair done.

We are always on the look out for Dippity Do. Last year, someone found 15 bottles of it at a Dollar Store, just before recital time.
