After many changes to our ADR's, we have decide to book the HDDR. This is largely based on the overwhelming good reviews I have seen on DIS. It also seemed like a good use of credits since everything is included. Is there anyone out there who did not like it? If so, why not? I have dd 12 and ds 8, my dh, fil and his girlfriend.

Okay, we are in the minority, but most of my family hates it. I have to say that we all went when the kids were young and we all enjoyed it. My DD as been "dragged" to it a few times as a young adult when she wnt with her aunt, and so when I booked it 2 years ago, she and her DH refused to join us. My DH, my 11 DGD and I went and there was mixed reviews. My DH laughed so hard through the entire thing. He loved every minute, the food, the food the food, the show and the server. I liked it, but thought the humor was cheesy, which was part of the charm. I liked dinner. My DGD was hysterical! She did not like the show, not one bit. She did enjoy watching her Pa. I really think she had more fun enjoying him enjoying himself, and so the evening was a success.

I think that there are 2 dinner shows that are classic Disney, and the HDDR is one of those two. I do not think you will go wrong going to the show, and I do think your family will enjoy it, even if someenjoy it for different reasons than were your intentions. LOL! If you want to stretch the evening, think about taking a wagon ride around FW. We did this after HDDR to see the Holiday decorations throughout the campgrounds.

There was a recent thread asking what folks did not like about HDDR, and by far the majority of the reviews were about good things, even though the OP asked for bad things.
We have been several times and we LOVE everything abouat it
Enjoy

My wife thought it was ok but is not interested in going back. I thought it was meh from the beginning and about a 1/3 of the way in I actually put on a football game on my iphone and watched/listened through my headphones. Many people love it however. I believe everything at WDW is worth trying yourself. Thats the only way you find those hidden gems you want to do over and over no matter what the public opinion is.

Not a personal opinion, but the only person I know who has been to it did not like it and said her family shared that sentiment. Reason being it was just too corny for their taste. Didn't appeal to their sense of humor. Said it was painful to sit through and they rolled their eyes the whole time. Didn't mention the food so that must have been okay. I think it's one of those things like Chevy Chase. Some people think he's a laugh riot, others think he's boring as a piece of toast.

i think you should try because you might like it or not like it no matter what anyones opinion is. i could ride figment over and over but my mother hates it. to each their own. with so many overwhelming great reviews give it a shot and if you dont like it you will never wonder what if.

I have been twice....with different people.
It was just okay......not my kind of humor, but had to try it. I like to do everything once, at least.

I'm in the it's only ok, we did it once, won't do it again crowd.
I grew up on Hee Haw. Grew up with annual passes to Opryland.
The heart of corny humor land.
I guess I had enough of it there to last a life time. HDDR just doesn't hold a huge appeal to my group.
We did enjoy our 1 time there though.
Food (minus the ribs, which were awful) was good.
Beer is awful. Wine was drinkable.
So I do recommend giving it a try once.

I found the show to be fine, but the food was very mediocre. I make better BBQ and fried chicken myself. ;) I'd rather be spending my time doing something more fun, and there are plenty of great shows at Disney in much more accessible locations than Ft. Wilderness (and we stay at the WL, so it's walkable for us). So an average show + poor food = no repeat for us.

Definitely in the did it once, won't do it again crowd. That type of humor is really not for me, it's way too corny and frankly I don't much remember anything about it except that my DH got sick midway through the meal and spent the last half of the show in the bathroom. I will say I'm glad we did it once but it would never be on my radar again.

I hesitated because I really am not into corny but I do like me some beer and BBQ so we have it a try and I was suprised by how much I actually enjoyed the show....could have been the beer helping though :rolleyes1

I took my older dd's the first time when they were 10 and 12 (they are 17 & 15 now) and we all loved it (and enjoyed the food too) so much so in fact when we went the next year with DH (who likes corny humour more so than me) we booked it again but we were disappointed. Some of the cast were different and not as funny and maybe because it was December around the holidays the storyline did not seem the same and hard to follow. Food also just seemed ok. Maybe it was just an off night. I may give it another try when my youngest dd (4) is a bit older.

I'm so-so on it. I don't want to use 2 credits, but my entire family insists on not missing it! In fact, they picked it for our Christmas Eve celebration. I figured once was enough, but they cannot get enough apparently. :)

It's not a good use of credits.... 2 credits for chicken and ribs....better to pay out of pocket and use those 2 credits at another restaurant for seafood or steak dinners....as said, do the math and not just look at the price...

We really enjoy the show, been to over 15 times and the show never fails to enlighten us, same for the food, darn right filling and good and what can I say about endless beer and sangria...

I have heard this quite a bit. I know it is just chicken and ribs, so if it was just the food, it would not be worth it. However, I feel that you are getting a show, all you can eat food, beer and wine (which we like) and tip. All that makes it worth it for us. Thank you for letting me know that you enjoy the show. I am really hoping everyone else does as well:)
